Following on from our Golden Albino post a couple of days ago, we thought it would be nice to update you on one of our most popular Morphs.... The Leucistic!

Quite possibly the cutest of all Morphs, the Leucistic with it's pearly white skin and Black dot eyes is a special sight indeed.

Due to their huge popularity, we often find ourselves sold out of these little fellas, but thanks to tripling our brood stocks earlier this year, we have plenty to see us through 😁

Good Morning All!

After a looong long wait, we would finally like to share that our Golden Albino Axolotls are up to size, and ready for sale!

These little guys and girls have some absolutely stunning colouration (if you can tell from our rather grainy photography! 😄) From a solid gold running head to tail, that will only get stronger with age, to the incredible soft red gills and silvery flakes that pattern the body, these Axolotls are absolute stunners!

Hello Everybody!

Firstly, apologies for the lack of posts recently, things have been incredibly hectic here at Devon Axolotls! (In a good way!) From caring for and sorting out the literal thousands of babies born over the past couple of months, to an INCREDIBLY busy Easter period, it's all been a bit non stop! We've even started doing a lecture series at many local Natural society's and schools.

Excuses out of the way, we thought it would be nice to show off one of our pairs, who have recently produced almost 600 eggs in one sitting! All of which started to hatch out yesterday morning. We have Shadow, the Melanoid Female on the left, and Moon, the Leucistic Male on the right.

Although they are now back in their own separate tanks, Moon and Shadow are absolutely infatuated with each other, and always get excited when it's their turn to 'Do their thing!'

Lots of Melanoid and Leucistic babies are now growing on, and will be ready for sale in just over a month's time! 😁

💫Part 3!💫 Of our Lucky & Ducky updates!

After almost an hour (I wish I was joking!) of trying to nab a photo of this camera-shy pair, this is the best we could manage!

As you can see, Lucky and Ducky have now entered the big wide world! And we are able to have a much closer look at their features.

Lucky has turned out to be a beautiful Golden Albino as we imagined, a perfect yellowy gold colouring, with a stunning slivery sheen.

Ducky however, is not a Wild Form, but has turned out to be a Melanoid! We have a bit of a soft spot for Melanoids here, for when the get older, they have an incredible dark black pastel colouring, and develop stunning Reddy-purple gills!

These two are now getting as much baby Brine Shrimp as they can manage, and will be growing in size, and strength, with ever passing day.

💫Part 2!💫

It's been a couple of weeks since we last checked in on Lucky & Ducky, a very busy Christmas and New Year has really kept us on our toes! But we found a bit of time this morning to give you all an update 😁

As you can see, they have come a long way in the last few days, from a little cluster of cells, to now almost fully recognisable Axolotls! With a close look on the first couple of photos, very delicate gills and tiny eyes can just be made out. We can also now have a better look at the Morphs, Lucky seems to be a Golden Albino, and Ducky perhaps a Wild Form. How exciting!

With lots of wriggling now being done, and the fact that their brothers and sisters have been popping out over the last couple of days, we can expect L&D to enter the world any moment now!!!

Caught in the act! 😁 a very proud post!

Here at Devon Axolotls we produce (or more, they produce!) thousands of baby axolotls every year. There does come a point however, when the eggs become less and less, and the success rate becomes lower and lower. That's a sign that our Broodstock have passed their best, and are ready for a well earned retirement!

This does mean however, that we need fresh recruits to bolster our broodstock ranks! We carefully select our most beautiful (unrelated!) Axies, and grow them on to be our next generation of Mums and Dad's.

This is what we were treated with this morning! We have been growing these two on for a fair few months now, and they were introduced to each other a couple of weeks ago. Love must have been in the air, as this morning the tank was full of eggs! (All in rather scattered placement, but it's her first time, we'll let her off!)

We'll let her finish, remove the eggs, and make sure she has a nice big breakfast in the morning!

The end of another incredibly busy day here at Devon Axolotls! Here are a couple of outgoing deliveries from today, lots of little Axies off to their new homes! After caring for the animals themselves, we all agree that our favourite part of working with these amazing creatures is the fact that we are able to have a part in making so many individuals, families, and especially little one's dreams of owning an Axolotl come true. We always love to hear how they are getting on, and especially enjoy receiving all the pictures you send of your Axies in their new tanks.
