Although the lowest numbers we’ve ever had a Cattistock, it was an enjoyable 2 days for us at Lircher Racing Association. We are already in talks for next year & making it the biggest event of all calendars!

The date is nearly upon us! We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to our annual event at Cattistock.

We’ve had a lot of messages asking if we are going to be strict on bi***es in season, it’s hard for us as a dog racing family to believe that people are actually turning up on the day with a bitch in season. IF YOU TURN UP AND HAVE A BITCH IN SEASON RACING OR NOT YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE!!

Again this year we are tolerating a ZERO drug policy as usual! Anyone found with any drugs will be asked to leave immediately.

Also a polite reminder that all are organizers are VOLUNTEERS! They don’t get paid they are there to help put on a show for you. Any abuse you will again be asked to leave immediately!

Lurcher Racing Association will be working along side some great organisers such as National League For Retired Greyhound Racing, Lurcher Racing TV & the one and only Dean Crabb at W.S.C Championship and Opens.

New for 2024 season points table!

& of course the NLRG will be running there league for the Greyhounds.

Points will be:
1st - 5 points
2nd - 4 points
3rd - 3 points
4th - 2 points
5th - 1 point.

Points are for the finals only!

Remember guys no muzzle, collars or catchers you will not be able to run. Unfortunately we have always handed out muzzles & collars and we have lost a lot that have not been returned unfortunately it’s too costly for us to keep doing this so we hope you understand as to why we have now said it’s your responsibility.

WE DO HAVE LIMITED SETS TO HIRE £25 A SET. You will receive the FULL £25 back once the set has been returned with all the collars in toe.

We can’t stress enough how we have to take a zero torlence on drugs with it being brought to our attention again only yesterday. I’m sure your all understand and there is kids at our events so drugs is not welcome. Anyone caught doing drugs will be asked to leave and receive a lifetime ban from any LRA involvement events.

This little bitch here holds a little special part of us here at the LRA. Owned by Shane, Shell & Ellie King anyone who knows the story of this bitch knows she has done nothing but keep proving herself throughout. Bred by the fantastic Pat Buckley, Shane had her brought to the UK at 12 months old and had her put straight into Peters kennels for schooling, after he done a amazing job bringing her on after she wouldn’t even chase the lure she went onto June & Tony Harveys Kennels where she has come on in leaps & bounds. Originally grading A10 at Brighton & Hove Greyhound Stadium, she went from A10 to A4 in just 4 weeks (double graded every time) and she done all that only being 6 weeks out of season, since then June & Tony have continued to put the time & effort into her & yesterday she done a phenomenal time of 29.77! This truly is a story of how much time effort & hard word really does pay off

❗️NEXT YEAR CATEGORY DETAILS ❗️

After a long discussions & seeing many sides of the story regarding categories the LRA has come to a decision on how we will be running the categories for 2023!

We can not see a way that is fair to split these categories up or a way that won’t stop the slower dogs having a chance, for example if we split rough coats up, your still have a unfair advantage of beddy X whippets ect where you will have rough coats & smooth coats but they are the same way bred. By splitting them into categories I.E beddy cross class, saluki cross class we still don’t believe that it would solve the issue as you would still get selective breeding dominating each category, & at the end of it the hole situation is to give all dogs a fair chance.

So moving forward we are still going to keep the original 21” & Under • 23” & Under • Over 23” • Over 26” but now introduce different finals.

Every dog will enter the same race, but as we go through the races the slower dogs will be filtered out and end up in there own finals, this will be known as your A final, B final, C final & so on depending on numbers. This is the only way we believe we can split it so every dog will eventually get there share to run against dogs there own speed.

We have already spoken to 3 different clubs & we have all agreed to be running under the same rules so there is no confusion going forward.

We look forward to seeing you in the new season 🐾🐾

It is regrettable that we have had to cancel yet another event due to the extreme hard ground conditions. We feel that the right decision has been made, the ground is far to hard to even think about running on it, the dogs safety is our upmost priority.

❗️ EVENT CANCELLED ❗️

After yesterdays decision to wait a week & decide to carry on or not, we today checked the weather again & there is no rain forecast’s for a minimum of 7 days, we feel that this wouldn’t allow enough time for the track to soften up enough to run. We have regrettably decided to postpone this event & a future date will be confirmed in due course. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but we would rather cancel a little earlier to allow people to make other plans on that day.

The dogs health & welfare is our top priority. We look forward to seeing you all on the new date once we decided what date it is
