✨ Training Tip Of The Day ✨
Take the little wins! If you are training your dog then your dog is currently learning.
As they learn the new behaviours we teach them they may not always get it right and it can sometimes take a long time for it to click.. that’s okay!
Celebrate the little wins - they’re the ones that show you that the training is working and they are starting to understand it.
The more you do celebrate the little wins, the more your dog will repeat them and they lead into the big wins 🙌🏼♥️.

✨ Tip Of The Day ✨
Now this doesn’t just apply exclusively to training.. as you begin to understand the subtle signals your dog gives you from their body language you will notice when they are happy, uncomfortable, upset etc.
Step in and step up! - show your dog that they can trust you in all situations (good or bad) so that they don’t have to ‘handle’ it themselves 💗.
I personally have had some awful experiences with other dog owners when out walking or training my dogs and I’m sure the majority of you have too! It is infuriating but the one thing we can keep as a consistent is advocating for our own dogs 🥰🐾.

✨ Today’s Training Tip ✨
No two dogs are the same.. what has worked for one dog may not work for the next, and that’s okay! Take the time to learn about the dog you have sat in front of you and find out what parts of training they enjoy the most and what helps them to learn 🥰.
Adaptability is key 🔑.

Bailey is a Beagle X that likes to make himself heard! We have been working on his reactivity towards people/dogs/loud vehicles to make walks with his owner much more enjoyable 🥰.

There’s no bond as strong as the bond you create through training 🤝.
When I first met Khali she was so nervous that just me walking near her & her owner was too stressful and she would freak out. Her body didn’t relax, tail didn’t wag ever on walks, she panicked about any quick movements or random noises and just wanted to escape.
But NOW 🤩 she grows in confidence each and every lesson we have. She runs across a field to greet me, walks past people/ bikes/ dogs with confidence and not only allows but WANTS me to stroke and cuddle her. She has a new lease on life and seems to be genuinely enjoying her walks ♥️.
She is taking everything in her stride and starting to trust that people don’t have bad intentions with her. Her owners help her overcome any fears she has so that she will put her trust in them rather than want to run away from something that used to spook her. Moments like these are so special and remind me why I love what I do 🥰♥️.

✨ Name Game ✨
Rosie is perfectly demonstrating the ‘Name Game’ ✅.
We use the Name Game in order to teach solid recall foundations 👏🏼.
Simply run a few paces in different directions and call your dogs’ name to reinforce them coming back to you each time they hear their name 👂🏼.
✨ Top Tip ✨ - If you have a super speedy dog (like Rosie), throw the treat away so you have time to run away 😜.

How much does your dog value you over other dogs/ people/ livestock etc? 🧐
If you’re training recall, make your rewards huge! Find what your dog loves - it can be a really tasty treat or it could be a massive fuss from you. The more interesting you are to your dog, the less interesting random distractions become 🥰.

There are 2 very important qualities you need when training: compassion and adaptability 💭 ..
Compassion allows you to start to understand the dog in front of you and get a glimpse into their brain 🧠.
Adaptability allows you to be successful in training - each dog is an individual and could train differently to say your previous dog (for example). 🐾
At Speak Up Dogs we open our minds to adapt the training to each individual dog and spend quality time getting to know and understand each dog and their owners to give them the best chance at succeeding ♥️.
