Early morning training session stopped with my dogs. Someone busy😂😂
Having a dog ball-obsessed can be a nightmare. Used the right way it can also be your best friend. It takes your training to a whole new level.
Good morning on a Frosty start to the day.
Another day at the office 😁
As trainers we must train the owner and dog in front of us rather than taking a generic approach generic
On the grounds of safety, all training is cancelled today. Will contact those affected.
Real life recall. Dog will come back when it doesn’t want to. No point having a recall on the dog’s terms.
Training to ignore dogs when out is a key training strategy.
Excellent training session today off-site. Training has to be in ALL the locations you go to.
Playtime
Early morning down time on a stunning early sunday morning before classes start.
Early morning training
Small technique made of of different components. #dorsetdogs
Little and often is the name of the game when training. #dorsetdogs
Fun at the field
Gets the dogs busy whilst I get my coffee 😁
Stop whistle
Individually both my dogs have excellent stop whistle.
Working together can be problematic as one dog wants to stop in front of the other.
Repetition and rewards are key. We are getting there 😊

Handling the dog
Owners working a flat coat in a high distraction area. Very long line for safety reasons. Excellent teamwork.

Some early training before classes start on a stunning morning. #dorsetdogs
My constant training message is its all about you and your dogs need to be in your zone. For my advanced level 2s we train going on a jolly and you using body language cues to communicate with your dogs silently.
For my dogs this field is a moderate/low distraction so a great place to practice.
I want to go for a walk and my dogs are chilled and are not hunting. They are constantly reading what I am doing and are in my zone despite the rabbit smells.
You can see I control the dogs by my body language alone. If their response changes at all I will be proactive and shut the situation down.
Another bit of training. Another dog is a great teacher as long as they are doing it right.
Here I am teaching hazel yo work with Henry on some simple commands. Two whistles is change direction. A strange whistle tone is the hunting whistle which tells rhe dog to hunt as the object is close.
Some early morning training before class.
Did a simulated shoot yesterday with dummy launchers, shot and lots of distractions for two clients who are preparing their dogs for the shoot season. Dogs really switch on when there is feather and shot involved.
Checking a hedge after the session.
With trepidation, I took Hazel out onto the property I live on. I have held off until now so I could build that bond between us. The three of us went off into the woods and then down to the lake. She was very good, but I was being very unpredictable.
Once we got to the lake, then the fun began 🤣🤣.
This will not be a routine, but a treat.
Hazel loves to lick my waterproofs and boots as I waterproof them. She thinks she is helping; she is not 🤣. It's just coconut oil
