Even after all these years we still get very excited about our new youngsters and there’s plenty to be excited about with our lovely five-month old pup Fenway Grace (Brigburn Perigrine x Wild Swan of Fenway) who is a maternal granddaughter of Int FT Ch Beileys Aguzannis of Fendawood.

Making his annual summer trip across the Atlantic aboard the Queen Mary 2 is the remarkable Bunker, a son of Fenway Brock. He spends each summer in France with his owner who lives in Texas and has been trained as her assistance dog. She says: "He's a one in a billion dog and our bond is so strong. He's the best Assistance Dog our certification school in Texas has ever seen."

Our beautiful Fenway Eventide (FT Ch Meadowlark Big Rock Fendawood x Fenway Willow Grouse) is a granddaughter of Fenway Brock and has inherited so much of his looks and style as well as his power, temperament and working ability.
Eventide is the sixth generation of the famous Fenway bitch line.

As we come to the end of the 50th year since the Fenway kennel was established we would like to share with you the following message recently received from a delighted owner.

"Jacob is thoroughly enjoying his second shooting season and you will be unsurprised to hear that he oozes natural talent and ability. We have put in the hours with our training sessions, but I only claim to have created some order to what was already firmly within! He has that wonderful ability to ‘flick a switch’ from family dog, to working gundog and shows real drive and focus in the field. He sits quietly on the peg watching intently and when sent on a retrieve, he is both fast and very efficient. He is completely trusting and it is hugely rewarding to watch him confidently follow commands from my hand or whistle on blind retrieves. He has repeatedly demonstrated an incredible nose for finding game and I am noticing that he has fast become the ‘go to’ dog on our syndicate, retrieving ‘lost’ or difficult birds where others have given up hope. As is his way he remains very nonchalant at all times, whilst I am secretly bursting with pride within. He has matured into a big, strong and very loyal dog with a flawless temperament. He is adored by us all and remains glued to my side whenever and wherever practically possible!”

This dog is sired by FT Ch Meadowlark Big Rock Fendawood and is out of Fenway Lupin who is the sixth generation of the Fenway female line.

Fenway Corn Dolly (Fenway Tallin x Fenway Reeve) wasted no time in getting to grips with her first day’s work at the European Tower Shoot at Maier Hunt Club in Indiana, USA. She’s one of three Fenway Labradors that make up an impressive team for their owner in Chicago.
Fenway Corn Dolly has been working in dense forest and is wearing a GPS collar as a safety measure.

In a week when we are all reflecting on the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll, it brought back a fond memory for us of over 30 years ago when Her Majesty gave a royal wave to the Fenway team. At the time our Labradors included Glencoin Dinah of Fenway who we had bought in 1985 from the last litter bred by the renowned Janet Nairn Hayward who bred the famous FT Ch Glencoin Drummer of Drakeshead for John and Sandra Halstead.

The Queen, whose long patronage of The Labrador Retriever Club has been so appreciated by us all, was presenting new colours to the 1st Battalion Queen’s Lancashire Regiment based at Weeton Army Barracks. It was 9th July 1990 and the Queen’s route away from the barracks would pass by Fenway kennels and so we – and our two young children and a team of dogs including Glencoin Dinah of Fenway – waited patiently in the lane for the entourage to arrive. As the royal car passed slowly by it meant so much to us as The Queen acknowledged her human subjects with a friendly wave. However there was no doubt that her gaze was definitely not focussed on us but on the team of black Fenway Labradors who wagged their tails bang on cue!

Leaving the Statue of Liberty far behind is Tintwistle Harvest Moon of Fenway (aka Bunker) who leaves New York aboard the Queen Mary 2 with his devoted owner bound for France where he spends each summer. Bunker’s achievements are an inspiration – he has attained the highest certification possible certified by Assistance Dogs International (only 33% of dogs that can do this work successfully pass this challenging test), he is a fully qualified therapy dog working with children in hospitals in Texas and, last but by no means least he has also been awarded his Junior Hunter title as a working gundog. Bunker is a son of Fenway Brock.

Fenway Carolina (Fenway Brock x Miss America of Fenway) successfully completed her first season picking up for her owner in Derbyshire.
This lovely bitch was a real treasure from the start. She enjoyed some early training sessions with us as a youngster and showed tremendous natural ability and style proving just what can be achieved by a great partnership.
