This PawstBox is all about introducing your pup to some mental stimulation and enrichment activities!🤩
Most dog breeds have been designed to have a purpose and a ‘job’. We know that’s not the reality anymore for the vast majority of dogs. Nowadays, they are often brought into our family homes simply for companionship.
This means that modern day dogs can often suffer with boredom due to a lack of their brains being challenged and stimulated. Just like in humans, boredom and a lack of having something to focus on can lead to displaying negative behaviours.
In our dogs, those behaviours can commonly be destructive chewing, being unable to settle, restlessness and over-excitement.
Dogs are highly intelligent, so without any means for mental stimulation and entertainment provided for them, they will often seek this out themselves in a way that us humans may not agree with.
To support your dog being a confident, well-balanced, enriched pup, it’s important that you actively seek ways to provide them with mental stimulation just as you would with physical exercise.
This PawstBox is designed to provide you with the tools to achieve exactly that!
We have included a range of activities to stimulate different senses in your pup, we’ve got snuffling, licking AND retrieving lined up for your pooch to get those tasty snackies 😋

Snuffle Sundays are now a THING!
Every Sunday we will be bringing you fun, new snuffling ideas and opportunities. Why? Take a look at the second image.
The list of benefits of allowing your dog to work their nose is endless, so;
the first snuffle zone we’d like to introduce you to has been beautifully modelled by Odie and his lovely furiend. This is a super simple activity to set up and the difficulty level for your dog can be modified easily.
Simply grab yourself an empty box (preferably a PawstBox! 😚) and hide a few of your dogs favourite treats inside. If your dog is already a foraging pro, you can add other objects or tissue paper inside the box to make searching slightly more difficult.
Then sit back and observe! Make a note of your dogs behaviour and body language to allow you to build on this and adapt the activity to your dogs individual needs in the future:
•how confidently did my dog approach this?
•how quickly did my dog find all of the treats?
•did my dog exhibit any signs of stress? (Yawning, increased breathing rate, leaning away etc.)
•how did my dog respond once the activity was finished?
•how much did I have to intervene/ help my dog?
Noting all of these things at the start will allow you to build on a wonderful, snuffle-full journey together with your dog!

Most of us would probably agree that it’s far too hot to exercise our dogs in this weather 🥵☀️
BUT that means that it’s the perfect opportunity for some mental exercise instead!
Reducing your dogs cortisol levels can have dramatic effects on their risk of disease and recovery time.
However it also has a myriad of other benefits, such as lowering the risk of anxiety, destructive behaviour and boundless amounts of energy!

Hello Monday 🌱🐾
New day, new week, new month, new beginnings! (New brand ambassadors soon too.. eeeek! 🙈)
We’re SO excited for the week ahead…

But before we look forward, this is a quick look back at our weekend. We got to go and see the fabulous in action on Saturday with our little Storm.
We couldn’t quite get the best picture of the boys with the treats once we got home as they just wanted to tuck in 😂

Also, we had lots of lovely comments on Storms amazing personalised harness. This is from our fave . By far the best harnesses around in our opinion!
