Swift Agility Dogs

Fanta's running dog walk training is progressing really well We are on stage 5 of 8, having done over 60 sessions, all of them videoed, edited and posted to the online course we are doing to get feedback, it is so worth it when you get a session like this one, every rep was a JP 🥰🥰🥰 I have cut out the rewarding but JPs get massive play and lots of it, the really good ones get to do tunnel as well, she just loves her DW training

what Fanta's been up to

For people following Fanta's agility journey this is what Fanta has been up to last weekend, you might have seen the post that she got a 1st place in her first run at steeplechase at Agility 4 All competition this is her video, so so proud of my baby girl 🥰🥰🥰 Check out the threadle wrap Just need to eliminate the victory spin luckily it was not closer to the finish jump as she would have got 5 faults 🫣 Not that I would have let her know she had done anything wrong just want her to be confident

I haven't posted a Fanta video for sometime, sorry been moving my flower shop to new premises so been a bit crazy We are doing an online running contact course, this is the final session of stage 3, we have done lots of sessions and it's so tempting to move forward before being told to but I am determined to get this right with Fanta, foundations are so important Stage 4 is to go up to 80cm in height

Fanta is at her first training camp in Cornwall and she is smashing it, she hasn't worked outside very much and never with another dog running in the next ring ( field separated by orange fencing) She has been completely focused on me, even when another dog lunged at her through the fencing whilst she was running 🤩 The video is her highlights from today

This week Fanta has been continuing her understanding of her tunnel cues, in the last session I only had one barrel when I wanted her to go straight it was in front of tunnel and for the turn it was on the left or right This session I had 2 barrels, one out straight and one for the turn. Nice and easy for the straight extension but challenging for the turn, she did really well, when she found it hard to turn and failed a couple of times I moved the barrel in front of the tunnel further away to help her succeed and build her confidence, this a lesson I will keep working so she really understands the verbal cue

Fanta has been practicing her commitment to the jump using a game called reverse retrieve This is stage 3 of this game, look back at Fanta's videos for the foundations of this game. We love this game its so much fun and really helps the dog understand I told you to go that way when I am actually running the other way, really good practice for the start of this weeks course 😀

Fanta has started learning her tunnel rules Drive straight - no cue Turn - name call Tunnel decel- close In this session we are just working on drive straight out of the tunnel without any head check to see where I am, so no cue other than her cue to wrap the barrel This is one of the most important lessons as so many dogs look back for their handler instead of driving straight In the very last sequence I left a pause before giving her wrap cue and she drove straight without questioning it so happy she is starting to understand " if I hear nothing I power out straight"

Fanta has been practicing her directional cues this week, we are working towards her understanding the cues on the verbal, to make things harder for myself I have added an extra turn cue. GO is our extension cue ME is my loose turn DIGA DIGA is my turn from 180-270 degrees Then I have my wing wrap cue In this lesson I am trying to use less body language although I do see that when I use the ME cue I do step forward, that's why videoing your training sessions helps you see what you are doing not what you think you are doing 😅 Happy training

Alby's setting the course this week 🤪

Fanta has been working on her "off end of tunnel" This is only her 2nd session doing it, the 1st session we just shaped the movement around 2 barrels. She is looking at me before driving into the tunnel but this should stop as she gains confidence

Fanta has been working on her backside wrap and backside slice She is showing great understanding of her cues, I am starting to really push her line on the wrap and she is still continuing around the wing instead of pulling off This is from doing all her foundation games like chase the squirrel, send n go on the barrel

Fanta has been practicing her rear cross, something I think I will need with her speed! I start with 2 barrels, and shape it, then 2 barrels one on the wing so it looks the same, next step drop tge barrel on the wing. The last bit of the video is how we pratice in the park or out on a walk getting her to flick away from me Happy training 😀
