Winter jobs include scrubbing out and refilling the IBC tanks that feed the summer paddock drinker. Treated myself to a long hose so gone are the days of manually lugging water around to refill! 2000 litres is a good workout 😉 💪🏼

In the build up to bonfire night, please consider those around you...

Every year thousands of pets will suffer as a result of fireworks being let off. Blue Cross animal hospitals see a marked rise in pets requiring medication during these times.

There seems to be a big PR campaign about ragwort at the moment ...but when it comes to protecting my hay meadow and the horses in my care, I take keeping ragwort in check very seriously. For those who don't know how dangerous it can be please read the following article

There are plenty of other safe wildflowers that are a good nectar source. Twas lovely to see the knapweed and teasel positively buzzing with at least 4 different species of bee 🥰🐝

The old boys are coping incredibly well at Hazel Mount Fellside 🥰. Despite having a manger full of good quality hay, they are also foraging for themselves 🥰🐴🐴

During this cold snap, the old boys get a bit of extra tlc here at Hazel Mount Fellside 🐴🐴. So far there's still plenty of forage for them but to help prevent compaction colic, the boys get a sloppy feed each day. While they are eating, ice is removed from their drinking trough and topped up with hot water. Here Chinook is enjoying a lovely long drink after his feed. 🥰

Field shelter did it's job and collected 500-600 litres of rainwater last night 🥰 am then able to top up the tanks that feed another drinker on site 💧🚰🐑🐏🐑🐴🐴🐑🐏🐑💪 who needs the gym 🙈
