It’s that time of year again when temperatures are soaring and both us and our pets are feeling the heat!

This image is a reminder to take extra care in this warm weather, to not be walking your dogs in the middle of the day when it is at its hottest and for my fellow brachy breed owners to be taking extra care.

To help your dog keep cool, you can use cooling jackets and bandanas available from local pet stores or even freeze a bottle of water and place it in their bed covered in a tea towel.

We have a whole booklet full of lots of enrichment games to help keep your dogs entertained too! If you would like a copy of this, please do let us know - we do not charge for this booklet.

Should you have any concerns with your dog, please do take them to your local veterinary practice.

Good News! Our phone line is now back up and running, so we are able to receive messages via WhatsApp and calls again!

However, it is typical that University exam weeks have now started, so currently noses are in books and laptops studying hard 🤓

So for now, we may still be a little quiet whilst we battle through exams and final assignments, however from W/C 22nd May we will have more time as it will be the summer break ☀️and will be adding Thursdays and Fridays back to the schedule for training work!

We are excited to have a break from studies and be spending more time with you all! So if you would like to book your next training session or get started with us, please do feel free to get in touch!

An apology from me...

Happy Sunday all! I just want to send out a huge apology to anyone that has tried to make contact with me this week. I promise I haven't been deliberately avoiding or ignoring anyone!

Unfortunately, my business line has suffered a major SIM card failure, which has meant I have not been receiving text messages, WhatsApp messages or phone calls this week.

I am currently waiting for a new one to be issued and sent out by our phone line provider, however this does mean I am still currently without a working line.

Should you have tried to reach me, please do get in touch via messenger and I promise to respond as soon as I can! Again, I apologise for any inconvenience or concern caused. I just thought nobody wanted to speak with me this week 😅

Today we woke up to the news of the sad passing of Paul O’Grady.

A man who used his fame to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves. Who did his best to provide loving homes for them and campaigning for high welfare standards.

Our thoughts go out to his family, friends, those whose lives he touched and of course, his furry babies.

Paul, a true dog lover and champion for the underdog. May you rest in peace 💔

Today is Ralphs 6th Birthday 🎈

The love we have for our dogs is indescribable. I wouldn’t be where I am today (although maybe a bit richer?) if it wasn’t for Ralph wiggling his way into our lives and into our hearts.

This year I'm not making a new year resolution, or promising "new year new me" (because we all know this won't be happening!), but instead will be reminding myself of the below Chinese proverbs:

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🎄

And the lergie has landed at Sniffalicious HQ 🤦🏼‍♀️

So we are spending today keeping warm and making up your orders - as you can see, Ralph is feeling rather jealous of your orders this year! So we have had to make him official taste tester for some of our items to ensure that they are completely safe for your dogs 😅

We are prioritising any orders that need to be sent via the postal service. Due to the huge backlog that the poor posties are trying desperately hard to work through, we have made the decision to send any orders out via courier rather than Royal Mail to try and get these over to you on time for Xmas. The best service is currently being researched and of course any tracking details will be updated as soon as possible.

Cut off for Sniffalicious Natural Treats Christmas boxes and hampers will be 14th December at 9pm. This is to ensure that I can get all the stock delivered to me, put together and then dispatched out to you. This is due to the current difficulties being experienced with the postal service, affecting all companies offering services.

We offer free hand delivery within Bracknell & surrounding areas, then a £5 flat rate for the boxes and hampers to be posted out.

Don’t forget, £1 from each sale will go to Help Alfie beat Neuroblastoma plus an additional £1 will go into a pot to make them a special hamper to be used for their auction page in January.

Coat orders will need to be placed directly as these are not normal stock, but special stock specifically to help raise money for the charity.

💥 Fireworks Season 💥

So we have now reached that time of year when fireworks are going to be frequent over the coming weeks.

There is lots we can do to help our pets cope a little better with fireworks 🎇 and feel less anxious.

My advice for today is to start playing fireworks 🎆 sounds in your home. Start these on a low volume (as background noise) and start gradually increasing the volume across the day. Do this over the next couple of weeks to help your pet start to desensitise to the sound. It’s normally recommended to start earlier, but this will still help with the coming weeks.
However, if your pet starts showing signs of stress at any point, STOP! They are going to be stressed enough later on today.

This does take time, but desensitisation to the sounds is key to helping them be settled and to prepare them for the noisy nights ahead.

Also, prepare a safe area where they can hide. This can be a separate dark room, their crate or get creative and make them a den! Also remember to comfort your pets during this time and if possible, stay home with them as your presence is the biggest comfort you can offer!

I am fortunate that Ralph is not remotely fazed by the sound of fireworks and will happily sleep through them 😅 or enjoys watching them out of the window.

There are lots of useful items that can be added to the above to help your dog feel safe and calm, including:

-Calming music: Classic FM and Youtube are great sources for this!
-Long-lasting chews: Yak bars, buffalo horns and antlers are my go-to!
-Calming plug-ins: Such as Adaptil or Pet Remedy, which can be found on Amazon or at your local pet store.
- Thunder Jackets: Again, can be purchased on Amazon or your local pet shop. Or you can create something similar with items at home.
- Natural calming remedies: My go-to items are Herbal Pet Supplies Chill Drops or Dorwest Valerian Root Compound

I do currently have a couple of Natural Treat items in stock to assist:

1 x 500g Venison Treat Slices
Plus enough stock to create 3 x 500g Chicken & Salmon treat slices or sticks.

I am so excited to see these available and be able to bring them to you for your dogs this year. All natural, no nasty additives, with the treats that your dogs love!

These advent calendars are priced at £12 each, with just £6 deposit (per calendar) required to secure yours for your pooch this Christmas.

I did it! 🎓

I made it through induction week! And came out the other end feeling excited about the journey I am about to embark on over the next 3 years.

Even though I am the oldest student on the course 😅 I am so grateful to have this opportunity to further push myself and Sniffalicious K9 Schooling future into an area where I can offer so much more to you and your dogs.

I am taking some time out this weekend to prepare for my first lectures next week, but will be back to work on Tuesday this week - I can’t wait to see you all!

Happy Saturday all!

I have taken the decision to have some time off this week in order to prepare for my first days at University taking place this week.

Whilst this is super exciting, I am also feeling a little nervous as I haven’t stepped foot in a classroom environment in over a decade!

I will be available on Tuesday and Wednesday should you need any advice or support over the phone or on zoom, but will likely be exhausted on Saturday so may be a little slower at replying.

☀️ TRAINING CANCELLED ☀️

Due to the extremely high temperatures being experienced over the next couple of days, I will be cancelling all work due to take place on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

The reason for cancelling Wednesday work is to allow your dogs time to recuperate from what is classed as a red warning couple of days.

I will keep an eye on the temperatures for the end of the week and keep you posted on how we will make it work. Based from the current forecast, we will be doing strictly early mornings and late evenings for the foreseeable future.

Please remember these cancellations are for the best interest of your dogs to ensure their safety and well-being.

Due to the forecasted weather for this week, we will only be offering early morning and late evening appointments this week.

Any outdoor sessions will only take place prior to 9am or after 8pm.
Indoor sessions prior to 11am or after 6pm (dependent on how cool your home is).

This is for your dogs safety and well-being. Should you require advice on additional cooling tips for your dog, please ask!

Feeling HOT HOT HOT 🥵

Due to another week of high temperatures, we have taken the decision to amend our working hours slightly in order to try and keep working, whilst ensuring all dogs (and owners too!) stay cool and calm.

This week, we will only be offering early morning and late evening appointments. This means the evening hours have now been extended with the last appointment being 8:30pm.

Should you have a booking at an earlier time, or should the temperatures be too hot, we will be getting in touch each day to discuss how you wish to proceed.

We hate making last minute changes and cancellations, however your dogs health and welfare is of utmost importance!
