Yesterday we visited with Fozzy for a walk.

We have been before but not with a dog and have to say, we were impressed.

Plenty of dog water available across the site and the main restaurant is beautiful with dog treats for sale and a dedicated dog friendly area with paw prints above the table so you know which tables are suitable for dogs.

The grounds are lovely for a walk - dogs need to be kept on a short lead. The paths are surfaced but it was pretty muddy on the grassed areas.

You'll likely encounter quite a few pheasants and geese so keep your eye out for those.

Dogs are allowed in the abbey ruins and in the old water mill - Fozzy LOVED it.

You can walk into Studley Gardens Estate too where if you're lucky, you might spot some wild deer in the distance. There are literally MILES of walks.

A fab place for a walk! Over Easter, there is a fun Easter trail running with 10 different activities and dogs can join you along the trail too.

Ps I am working with NT to promote their Easter Events for NEFF but this post is not part of that and we used our own membership to visit.

Today was keen to go foraging for wild garlic so we popped to our local woods Plessey Woods for a walk. He got his wish! There was loads. It's pretty muddy at the moment still though.

Loads of dogs around and good facilities with dog drinking water outside the cafe, toilets, an enclosed playground (no dogs), dog wash (paid) plus an ice cream van.

Parking is usually free for an hour (with a ticket) and then chargeable up to £3 for the day but today the machines were broken.

There are rivers and streams to plodge in if your dog likes water.

Afterwards we stopped at - dogs are welcome in the bar and restaurant here and there is fresh water you can help yourself to plus landlady Sharon brought some treats out for Fozzy which he was very happy with.

Hopefully the first of many dog walk with beer garden trips of the year. It's been a lush day.

(ad) We recently stayed at in Seahouses and were really impressed with their dog-friendly facilities:

🐾 Dog friendly holiday homes are available and dogs are welcome to join you in your tourer
🐾 There's a dog washing station at reception - perfect for after a beach walk
🐾 The site is beautifully landscaped with ponds, waterfalls and planting. There's a dedicated dog walking area too
🐾 You're just across the road from the coast and the walk to Bamburgh is excellent
🐾 There's a dedicated dog area in the onsite bar/bistro, dogs even have their own entrance door which is cute and it means dogs don't disturb those in the non-dog area
🐾 Lots of dog friendly places to walk to from your door including boat trips to the Farne Islands and Bamburgh Castle (not the state rooms)
🐾 SO many dog friendly pubs to walk to - our faves are , , , and - plus of course the on-site bistro

I was out walking Fozzy fairly late last night as he came along with me to pick Jack up from scouts.

We pass two women walking their 3 dogs all off lead. Fozzy ignores them and I praise him. It's something we are working on!

But then one of the dogs turns around and starts chasing after Fozzy, growling and snapping at him 😬

Owners are long gone in the distance and have no idea where their dog is or what he's doing so I shout at them to come and get their dog as he's bothering my dog.

Their reply - 'That's just what dogs do'

Ugh so annoying! Personally, I'm not an off lead walker but generally have no issues with those who are but please, please, please if you walk your dog off lead, keep eyes on them! Esp when around other dogs and certainly don't be dismissive when asked to control your dog by other dog owners (which is the law btw!) You don't know their situation!

🐾 Eden Camp - a dog friendly day out 🐾

Eden camp near Malton is around a 2hr drive from Newcastle and a lovely dog-friendly day out for the whole family. They reopen for the season on 23 March.

Eden Camp allows visitors to step back in time and experience WWI. The museum is open air in style and made up of 33 'huts' to explore.

Each hut focuses on one aspect of war - this could be food rations, the work of women, the blitz, animals in war......There is LOADS of info to read but lots of visual aspects to experience too with props, artefacts and recreated scenes to walk through.

All of the huts are indoors and close together and dogs on leads are welcome in all of them making this an ideal rainy day out.

Some of the huts may be dark in places or feature loud noises so may not be suitable for all dogs - there is clear info on the hut doors about this though and they are easy to skip.

For kids there is a big army style adventure playground and traditional games to play too.

Some of the subject matter is obviously sad but overall, the tone is more informative and there are some fun / nostalgic aspects too. It's not actually too depressing.

Dogs are also welcome in an area of the cafe and there are plenty of picnic tables where you can bring a picnic. There are dog water bowls dotted about.

I would recommend setting aside 4-6 hours for a visit. Maybe longer if you plan on reading all of the details.

We have combined trips with the Ryedale Folk Museum and North York Moors Railway - both are nearby and dog friendly.

Beautiful dog-friendly dining with the best view at - located along the coastal path between Seahouses and Bamburgh.

The bar and dog friendly dining area are open to both residents and non residents and there are dog friendly rooms plus a free on site car park.

One of the best places I've stayed in recent months and id certainly recommend popping in for coffee and checking this place out for yourself if you're in the area.

This is such a bargain! I've actually booked this hotel for August and paid £182 for a room plus £15 for Fozzy and didn't book breakfast as it was going to be an extra £40. I know this is a peak time but it's still a huge saving.
