Prudhoe Castle
🏰 Free to visit for English Heritage members, admission fees apply for non members. No booking required. Free (small) on site car park.
🏰 The only castle in the North never to have been taken by the Scots
🏰 Dogs welcome on leads inside and out. There is a dog water bowl and waste bins plus longer walks in the vicinity
🏰 A couple of small exhibitions around the castles history
🏰 You can walk around the exterior and the interior of the castle
🏰 Lots of wild garlic nearby
🏰 Small shop with takeaway drinks and ice creams. Two picnic tables in the grounds.
It's a small place, you could only spend an hour here max but it's picturesque and interesting. Nice for a little trip out. I'm determined to use my EH membership beyond the main sites this year and this was a good start.
Cherryburn (when it reopens), Daniel Farm and Bradley Gardens all close by.
