After so long since an update, one of Blossom's rescuers, Spiridoula, went to Vienna to deliver another dog and while there was able to catch up with Blossom and her mum, Sophie. As you can see, she's thriving and doing really well... Look at the shine on her coat and then scroll back and remind yourself how she was! Lovely news!

An update on Zoe (Blossom) from mum, Sophie, in Vienna, as at the beginning of this month, she had an operation on the remaining left leg, which means she's now taking it easy as it will take about 8 weeks to heal properly, and again should be a big help for her mobility.

Sophie and Franjo have created a special enclosed area in their garden so she can move about freely without having to be concerned about the other dogs knocking in to her. That's devotion for you!

This will be the final major operations she will have to undergo, but is worth it to restore her mobility even further. Mum, Sophie, says she's doing really well.

Blossom (now Zoe) has finally had her last operation in Vienna and is now free of any metal pins in her back legs, and as you can see, is doing really, really well. Mum, Sophie, also wanted to share this video of her "talking to mum", which was taken yesterday!

Amazing footage of Blossom (now called Zoe) from Sophie, her adoring mum. Here she is enjoying a run around, which only a few months ago would have seemed amazing, and last summer, when she was found closer to death than life, would have been completely unbelievable!

I'm soon going to be able to share some fantastic pictures and updates from Anna and Spiridoula, her amazing rescuers, showing Blossom's legacy for the strays of Pyrgos, the town in southern Greece where she was found in such a terrible state.

Thanks to your donations, and her mum, Sophie, taking on the expenses of her surgeries in Austria, the funds left over from her rehabilitation in Pyrgos have been used to neuter, blood test and treat 24 dogs and five cats in the town. This means hundreds of unwanted puppies and kittens have been spared from being born in to a short and hard life, at risk from untreated Mediterranean diseases, road accidents, poisonings or, as in Blossom's case, being taken out to the countryside to be dumped. While she enjoys a wonderful new life in a home where she is loved, this little Spaniel has no idea of all the others her story has helped.

From something really sad, something wonderful has happened.

Blossom's mum, Sophie, has just sent this update and photo from Vienna, and there's more good news to share... Blossom's leg is continuing to improve and next week she will visit the vet who operated on her, to make an appointment to remove the screws and metal implants she has - after which she will be walking and running even better.

She's doing so well, and having a fantastic life!

Happy 2021! Blossom's mum, Sophie, sent in these photos from this week, clearly loving life in Vienna, right at the heart of her family, and an absolute cuddle-monster! You've come a long way, Blossom, from a stray dumped with deliberately broken legs in the fields outside Pyrgos, to much loved, and loving, girl enjoying life. Working together with her rescuers, Spiridoula and Anna, our support and donations did this! Every dog deserves a chance 🥰

An update from Austria from Blossom, who is now called Zoe...

There was a period of radio silence as Zoe's family dealt with the tragic loss of one of their dogs to cancer, and Zoe spent a lot of time with a top orthopaedic specialist vet in Vienna, but the results are amazing... if you remember a girl who could hardly walk, well she is now running around, happy and totally loved.

This was only achieved with your donations and support, and the love of her new family. There will be some more updates coming 😁.

Thank you so much for all the lovely messages, comments and support from all over, it's really wonderful how many people have been following Blossom's story and we're so grateful for your support. Here are two videos of her settling in to her new life with Sophie and Franjo in Vienna, which show just how relaxed and happy she is feeling! Today has been a big, big day, and we're so happy to finally be able to share it with you... Around 6am this morning, Anna kissed goodbye to Blossom, in Pyrgos, for the last time, as she started the long journey to her forever home in Vienna, Austria.

Blossom, of course, took everything in her stride. This afternoon, Blossom arrived in Vienna, where after weeks of communication, video calls and pictures, she met all her new forever family, Sophie and husband Franjo, and together they went to her new home to meet the rest of the four-legged family.

Sophie and Franjo had seen Blossom's video on The Orphan Pet YouTube channel, and as well as generously supporting her fundraiser, decided after much thought that they would like her to join their family. Having a great deal of experience of caring for Greek dogs with extra needs already, we were delighted and knew this would be a fantastic opportunity for Blossom, and so, in the background, plans were made.

But the great news is, Blossom is now safely home, and Sophie & Franjo will start the physiotherapy etc and look at possibly getting a doggie-wheelchair for walks, so Blossom can run around at top speed with her new family in the parks and riverside walks of Vienna. We will continue to post updates on Blossom and her new life all the while you want to see them!
