Good Girl Aurora.

Say Hi Saturday is here again!
This we are pleased to introduce Nikki who is part of our reception team.

Nikki is a long-registered veterinary nurse, but is taking a break from physical nursing for a while and keeping one paw in the industry as our part time temporary receptionist, while she concentrates on her freelance creative career in freelance hairdressing and theatrical wigs. She has just finished an epic 5 week run at the Lowry theatre on a Christmas musical!

Having a vocation as a veterinary nurse is like ‘Royston Vasey’ in that “you can never leave”, and you always end up coming back, but Nikki feels that it’s important (in any job) to work with people and companies that you like and agree with. Having recently spent 5 years at the PDSA and before that having worked at other much needed animal charities, she feels that our working model of the mobile vet is also an important and much needed way of providing veterinary care in people's homes, that many pets and clients really benefit from. Nikki really likes the team here at My Visit Vet and hopes that her veterinary nurse knowledge can be of use on the phone sometimes too.

Nikki would love to work at a wildlife hospital if she ever went back into a nursing role, but for now will be answering calls at My Visit Vet, and volunteering with the Bats Conservation Trust helpline too ..and trying to convince her own shiny black cat Quincey that he’s her best and most loyal friend, and not a wild panther, as he believes. You may find Nikki flexing her scissors on various human heads in the local area on most other days.

Progress is always a success !
On Friday Luke and Nicole went to see our friend frank, frank was a recuse dog has had a difficult time in the past luckily for Frank he landed on his feet when he met his mum.
Frank was a very scared nervous boy who did not like any one in his space it made him very upset and worried and led to some " difficult behaviours" His mum wanting him to have a happy life as he deserves contacted a behaviourist who came to see him and has worked so hard with Frank that when Luke and Nicole came to give him his yearly check up and booster he amazed everyone with his progress.

As you can see from the photos Frank allowed both Nicole and Luke in to his space to give him his injection and check up, Nicole even got a belly rub request!
6 Months ago he did not want Luke to touch him at all so you can see just how amazing he is progressing with the help of his mum of course.
If you feel your pet shows problem behaviours when going to the vet maybe a home visit would help your pet progress just like Frank has.
Well Done Frank ( and his mum of course) you are a super star.
** if you would like to keep up to date with Franks progress he has his own Instagram page

Its time for say hi Saturday again, This week our vet Luke.
Luke qualified from Bristol University in 2005 and has been working in practice ever since.
After a year in mixed practice, he focussed on companion animals and has worked across the UK (and briefly Australia) in a wide variety of practices moving up to being clinical director. Luke has been interested in the idea of opening a mobile vet clinic since seeing a friend from university open a mobile vet clinic some time ago. Having seen the benefits it can bring to reducing stress in our patients and providing a more personal service to clients has now prompted him to take the plunge and open this clinic.
Luke has keen interests in soft tissue surgery, dermatology and internal medicine, and is well on his way towards completing a small animal internal medicine certificate through Liverpool University.
Luke currently has a Cat at home called Amos

Cute alert!!
Just to cheer everyone up on this drizzly Manchester morning,
Meet Roscoe the 8 week old Belgian Malinois, Luke and Mel got to meet him yesterday for his puppy vaccines and of course he stole their hearts.
He has clearly mastered the "I am too cute to get in trouble" look. Isnt he just the cutest? We will be back in a few weeks for his next injection and see how much he has grown.

Say Hi Saturday!
This week we are introducing Mel one of our Vet nurses,
Mel has, for as long as she can remember, wanted to work with animals. She completed a biology degree in 1997, then decided to pursue a career in veterinary nursing and qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2000.
Since then she has pursued in more depth various aspects of her vocation including obtaining a city and guilds in small animal nutrition, a behaviour certificate and the vetsnow emergency and critical care certificate.
She enjoys learning and keeping up to date on the latest developments in the veterinary field. This allows for her and her colleagues to provide the best care to our patients.
The patient is always the priority with Mel and she will always do her best to make them feel safe and as comfortable as possible while in her care.
She has two cats named Freddie and Joe. They are brothers and keep her on her toes at home.

Say Hi Saturday!
We thought as we are a mobile clinic our clients don't get to meet all of our staff face to face so we would introduce them for everyone to get to know.
First up is one of our receptionists Liz.
Liz was born and bred in Bolton and still lives there with her partner Dan,
She has been working in the veterinary field since 2015 after moving from a career in customer service.
Liz is a lifelong animal lover having grown up around horses and dogs all of her life, she enjoys working in the veterinary industry as she could talk about animals all day and enjoys offering support in any way to pet parents.
Her and her partner currently have 4 dogs they are called Polly who is a Jack Russell terrier cross, Lottie the lurcher, Blossom who is a lurcher and Merlin who is you guessed it a lurcher as well, notice a theme there? :-)
She also has 2 rescue Shetland ponies called Daisy and Primrose and a bearded dragon named storm fly.
When she isn't caring for all of these pets she enjoys lots of crafty things such as crochet and sewing.
As a self confessed nerd she also enjoys playing dungeons and dragons or board games with her friends.
