🌸Mia the Malamute🌸
The lovely Mia was referred following bilateral TPLO surgery for cruciate rupture (meaning both of her knees were operated on at the same time). Mia has made fantastic recovery in just a couple of months and is back to enjoying her normal life.. chasing the hose pipe!🚿 She had a check in yesterday and I am absolutely delighted with her progress🤩
Mia wasn’t a huge fan of manual therapies so we took a hands off multimodal approach to her rehabilitation. Alongside her home exercise plan she has also lost just over 7kg this year!! Her success wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of her fantastic owners🙌🏼
Little Doris’s progress video speaks for itself🤩
Following spinal surgery for IVDD (intervertebral disc disease), Doris wasn’t progressing as expected, her surgeon was very concerned and wanted to perform another MRI. We agreed to try physiotherapy for a few weeks and see how she got on..
Doris has done incredibly well, we are all overjoyed with how much progress she has made. She is one very lucky pup to have such wonderful, dedicated owners who have worked so tirelessly during her rehab🐾

AJ was referred for rehabilitation following an elbow arthroscopy surgery for a fragmented coronoid process, a type of elbow dysplasia.
Rehabilitation can be a long and daunting process, but AJ has coped so well with his controlled walks and tailored exercise programme which his owners have stuck to tirelessly!🙌🏼 He has now progressed to walking over raised poles to increase his active flexion and develop the muscles in his forelimbs✨

A little insight into my evenings outside of work🐑⛅️
Feeling very lucky to have a dry Sunday off to enjoy a bit of down time walking Dora before preparing for another busy week☀️🙌🏼
I have very limited availability left this month with just the 29th currently free and the diary is already filling up into August(😳🤯). I can hardly believe it myself and can’t thank all my wonderful clients enough for all the support🥰

Check out these superstars👏🏼🌟
Hollie’s owner has got her pole exercises down to perfection, helping to retrain her gait and encourage more active flexion of her hind limbs💪🏼 A tasty spoon of yoghurt goes down a treat for Hollie too!😋 Hollie suffers from spondylosis and hip arthritis, both common degenerative conditions seen in dogs. She has a individual exercise plan to keep her moving well and feeling comfortable🌟

Heel walking.. dull I know but hear me out on this one🤪 Walking to heel might be one of the greatest tools you can teach your dog, not only for training purposes but it also has a range of benefits from a physiotherapy perspective🤓 (see there is a point to this!).
✨Allows your dog to have a controlled warm up and cool down to reduce the risk of injury during exercise.
✨Reduces the risk of repetitive strain injuries from continued pulling on lead.
✨Following injury or surgery dogs often require a controlled return to exercise reducing the risk of re-injury and further complications.
✨For a veterinary examination, walking to heel allows your dog to walk without any outside interference and provides the practitioner with vital information.
I’m working hard with Dora to give her solid foundations for the future, but occasionally it does feel like I’m bashing my head against a brick wall! So trust me when I say, I feel your pain, but stick at it and you’ll reap the benefits long term🙌🏼

The magic of the humble hot water bottle🤩🌈
The magic of the humble hot water bottle🤩🌈
In the first clip, the hot water bottles are applied to the horses lumbar region, you can see muscle fasciculation (spasm) present across the Longissimus Dorsi muscle (runs either side of the spine).
The second clip is five minutes after the hot water bottles were applied. There is no evidence of muscle fasciculation (spasm) and no reaction to movement or pressure, the horse is visibly much more comfortable 🤩🥰
I prescribe the use of hot water bottles for many of my clients both equine and canine. The horse in this video has kissing spine, due to the severity he is not a candidate for surgery (see the radiograph at the end of the video). His management includes regular physiotherapy, exercise prescription, targeted stretches, and as demonstrated here hot water bottles prior to exercise! ✨
