Did you know that a cat's instinct tells him the water near his food is dirty? That is why cats should have access to water which is situated well away from their food. Preferably in a different room, or for cats that go outside, a bowl in the garden. Provide several wide, flat bowls around the house and garden for them to choose from. Cats suffer with kidney failure in later life so it's extremely important that we give them access to plenty of fresh water. Their thirst drive is very low which means that by the time they drink they are probably already dehydrated. Don't cause them to delay any longer by putting water next to food. It will cause them stress to have to drink from water that they feel is dirty. If in doubt, add another water bowl, or better still, a fountain. πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦
