What’s the difference between an Equine Sports Massage Therapist, Physiotherapist, Chiropractor, and more?

This is a question I get asked a lot, and the simple answer is: we all work in slightly different ways, on different layers of the horse, and each role has its own place in keeping horses healthy, comfortable, and performing at their best.

🐴 Equine Sports Massage Therapist – Works mainly on the muscles, tendons, and fascia to relieve tension, improve circulation, and support recovery. It helps keep muscles balanced, supple, and so much more.

🐴 Equine Physiotherapist – Focuses on rehabilitation after injury or surgery, using techniques like massage, stretching, and electrotherapy to restore correct function, movement and so much more.

🐴 Equine Chiropractor – Specialises in the skeletal system, particularly the spine and joints, focusing on alignment and so much more.

🐴 Other professionals – You may also come across osteopaths, myofascial release therapists, or saddle fitters, each addressing different aspects of the horse’s body and performance.

Seeing one doesn’t mean you shouldn’t see the others. They complement each other beautifully. A chiropractor may free up a joint, but the surrounding muscles may still need massage. A physiotherapist might help after an injury, while regular sports massage keeps muscles in balance and prevents strain.

At the end of the day, it’s about building the right team around your horse to support them in every layer, from bones to muscles to movement, so they can feel and perform at their very best.

It has been a busy few months!
Some new faces have joined in on the walks recently and have made great additions to the groups.

I have also had the pleasure of looking after some lovely animals whilst their owners have been away. Dogs, horses, cats, chickens and even a rabbit.

Looking forward to a summer full of walks and new adventures with all of your lovely pets big or small! 🐶🐴🐑🐰🐱🐔

The weather may not be the same next week but that will not stop the fun. Rain, wind or shine I look forward to seeing all of my four legged friends tomorrow. 🐾🌧️☀️💨

Happy Monday all!

I currently still have some availability’s and I would love to meet new clients and your lovely pets!

My services include:
* dog walking (group/solo walks)
Monday-Fridays: can be introduced into my regular daily group of brilliant dogs or if better suited they can join me for a 1-1 walk.
* drop in visits
Out for the entire day? No need to worry. I can arrange times that work best to come and check on your pets. Breaking up their day and giving you peace of mind.
* house/pet sitting
No need to stress about using kennels. I stay in your home with your animals. Keeping them happy in their usual environment and sticking to their normal routine.
* Equine/grooming work
Need an extra hand until the later evenings? Or help with competition prep coming into the new season? Happy to help with general yard duties, grooming, plaiting, ridden or ground work. I have years of experience as a groom and working with a range of horses from foals to top level eventors. Can provide plenty of references.

Fully insured, DBS checked and first aid trained.

Please don’t hesitate to ask. I am more than happy for one off work or to add you into my regular diary. I look forward to hearing from you.

Unfortunately we have had a report of a possible attempted dog theft at Teigngrace. To keep your pet safe, we recommend the following:

On walks, keep your dog close by or on a lead, especially if you see anything that concerns you. Practice your recall!

Make sure your garden is secure and your dog is supervised while outside.

Never leave your dog unattended outside a shop or in the car.

Make sure your dog's microchip details are up to date - www.petlog.co.uk

Ensure they have a collar and tag with your contact info (not the dogs' name)

Keep up-to-date photos of your pet (from several angles, including any distinguishing marks) on your phone, to show people if there is a problem.

Consider using a GPS tracker.

Alert the Police on 101 or online if you see anything that concerns you. Always maintain your own safety first.
