Cuddles and fuss a plenty for your animals who enjoy / need it. We are also specialised in animal law, and teaching and lecturing in the animal industry. In a voluntary capacity we help and support animal rescue, and pets belonging to the homeless population (providing them with health checks, food, flea and worming treatment, coats, blankets etc.). Experienced working with zoo animals and livestock, we can also provide support when an extra hand is required in zoos, farms and small holdings. We are passionate about all animals and have qualified to high academic levels in animal care, animal management, animal science and animal law. The welfare of the animals in our care is paramount and we are continuously updating our skills and knowledge through in-house and external training, receiving further certification in areas such as animal first aid, administration of medication, COSHH, animal transport licence (cert. While we love caring for and working with a range of animals, we also enjoy working with people. We provide opportunities for people with disabilities, and offer educational sessions to groups, clubs, schools and colleges. We have a range of vehicles that we use for our services, with all of them being MOTd, taxed, fully insured and following the laws regarding the transportation of animals. Where required for specific journeys and animals, drivers hold the Certificate of Competence for animal transportation. Some of our vehicles are used for our pet taxi service, which are available for visits to the vets, the groomers, cattery or kennels etc. Whereas the transit has been used to help pick up large enclosures and deliver them to animal rescue centre or individual fosterer. Even with our local pet visits and walking, we will always attend in one of our vehicles, in case of an emergency, whereby we need to help you or your pet. Summary. We really care about animals. We are more than just a "pet sitting service". We do not charge "per dog" for dog walking, we offer discounts on many of our services to people on certain benefits, employees within specific sectors, rescue animals and more. Certain bespoke bookings can also be given with a considerable discount. And, some of our services are done for free! We also support local organisations, homeless pets and animal charities. As you can see, it's not about the money for us... we just love all creatures great and small! Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information about our service or to make a booking.

Saturday is Caturday and we absolutely love cats; pedigrees, cross breeds, mixed moggies of all colours, shapes and sizes with four legs and three legs, those that love to play, those that love to snuggle, those that love to bite your toes, those that are a little unsure but are just content knowing that you care ๐Ÿ˜ป

Do you have a favourite cat breed or just a favourite moggie? Do you have more than one cat but secretly like one more than the other?

๐Ÿฑ

We have had many moggies throughout our lives, looked after many others as well as rescued quite a few too! From house cats to farm cats, domesticated to feral we love cats! Ask us our top five dog breeds and we would be able to say, ask up our top five cats and we are completely stumped.... they are all number one! Some may stand out more due to their personality or from the changes we have observed through our feline behavioural work but if it's a cat, it is a marvellous moggie.

And, if you know us, you will know that one of us has been also very fortunate to work with the big cats too, and out of the big cats, it has to be the loveable lynx that hits the spot.

๐Ÿฑ

But we would love to know all about your favourite cat or cats so please let us know!

๐Ÿฑ

Have a Happy Caturday ๐Ÿ˜ป

When we have children "we shouldn't have favourites" although many secretly do. But what about dog owners?
๐Ÿถ
Do you have a favourite breed or crossbreed or love the Heinz 57s more? Do you have more than one dog but secretly like one more than the other?
๐Ÿถ
We have had a variety of breeds over the years and looked after many others too. But one that has to be right up there is the Border Collie. They are intelligent, active, agile, loyal, alert and responsive ..... although we must admit, two of our collies while all of the above have also been sofa monsters wanting to stay asleep when it's cold, wet and windy..... even within breeds no two dogs are quite the same. We have lived and worked with Border Collies throughout our lives and I don't think that will stop any time soon.
๐Ÿถ
But we would love to know all about your favourite dog so please let us know!
๐Ÿถ
And, don't worry cat owners.... we haven't forgotten you as Saturday is Caturday ๐Ÿ˜ป

This Lunar new year is the Year of the Snake and it is all about shedding that bad energy. The snake is expected to bring about transformation and new beginnings. If you are willing to move on, all of these transformations will be positive.
๐Ÿ
Here at Black Cricket Animal Services we are transforming and are happily moving onwards and upwards! As things happen and change we will certainly keep you posted!
๐Ÿ
Over the past few months we have been involved with a few things. We are currently unable to discuss any of them, but we look forward to the day that we can with photographs, videos and a whole lot more!
๐Ÿ
As part of our pet care services, we look after snakes as well as a variety of other reptiles and invertebrates. Monies from this go towards the animal rescue.
๐Ÿ
And, as it is the Year of the Snake, here is one of our favourite photos. She is a feisty, 7 stone albino Burmese python. While adorable, for H&S, there is always at least two of us present for her as much as for us ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ

The good news: These three dogs are not a banned breed. The Dog Legislation Officer has assessed them and they are not of 'type'.
๐Ÿถ
They were found in Rugby but very close to a busy main road so the police were called. The officers took them in and put them into their kennels.
๐Ÿถ
It is a mystery why nobody has come forward to claim these dogs. It may be because they escaped and the owner is reluctant to claim them as they fear they may be typed as being a banned breed. Or perhaps they were abandoned for fear that they were a banned breed.
๐Ÿถ
The dogs are all in very good condition. They are happy, friendly and sociable and do not appear to have any health issues. They have obviously been well cared for.
๐Ÿถ
But let us repeat this: the DLO has stated that they are not a banned breed. Therefore, these dogs can go home immediately.
๐Ÿถ
If you know the owner of these dogs, please let them know their dogs can go home and that they are now in the care of Paw Prints Dog Rescue.
๐Ÿถ
If you are the owner, please make contact with Paw Prints Dog Rescue as they are now looking after your happy, well cared for dogs.

Living and working within the rural communities, we attended the Rural Crime Meeting to listen and put forward our own opinions and experiences.
Many people in attendance have seen and experienced various crimes such as break-ins, theft, drugs, assault and animal cruelty (including sheep worrying).
We would like to thank Richard Fuller the MP for the area for hosting this event, as well as the Police and Crime Commissioner, Chief Inspector and RCAT.
It was an interesting and informative meeting. Together, we can bring these crimes down.

Lots of interest. Lots of questions. Lots of concerns at my public meeting on rural crime held at Old Warden Village Hall

The meeting originated as a response to some rather worrying experiences from families who were victims of crime - sometimes repeatedly - who had felt ignored or isolated when seeking a response from Bedfordshire Police.

I was very grateful to the Police & Crime Commissioner and Chief Inspector for attending and for answering so many questions and providing reassurance.

The meeting raised a number of areas for improvement in the eyes of my constituents but also praise for the individual officers in the rural crime team.

Very pleased to hear that this team will be moving their base to the centre of the county from the south .

๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿถ Looking to adopt? ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ

We currently have a few animals that are looking for their fur-ever homes, currently being cared for in their foster homes. Please read the descriptions carefully and if you are keen to learn more about them, please do get in touch.
Part of an animal neglect case we have a couple of beautiful pets loving for warm and loving homes. Do you have the right home for them?
๐Ÿฑ Elfie is a white and black, 13 week old kitten. She was called Elfie as she looked like an elf as soon as she was born and continued to look this way for quite a while afterwards. Now she is growing in to a lovely, warm, lively kitten who loves nothing more than playing in her cats trees, and with balls and feathers. Elfie also loves playing and chasing the other kittens she is currently with. She is a big fan of cat napping in the cat trees too as well as snuggling up on the sofa. She is a little timid around unfamiliar people but give her time and she will come up to you for a soft stroke and / or food. She prefers wet to dry food and is litter trained. Elfie can be adopted with her sibling Bobby or on her own.
๐Ÿฑ Bobby is a white and black, 13 weeks old kitten and is the sibling of Elfie. He is sweet, lively, independent, and a bit of a climber. He eats both wet and dry food although loves his wet food more. He enjoys playing, chasing and jumping over the other kittens he is currently with. He likes to spend equal amounts of time sleeping in the cat hammocks on the cat tree as well as stretched out on the sofa. He is a little timid around unfamiliar people but he will warm to you if you take your shoes off and let him sniff your socks. Bobby is toilet trained. He can adopted with his sibling Elfie or on his own.
๐Ÿถ X is a Cane Corso, an Italian Mastiff, who is a friendly, quiet, goofy adolescent male. He knows a few basic commands and is very food motivated, so will do anything for a treat. Despite what the media says, X is by no means a "status dog" as he is quite small for a typical Corso Corso, not very muscular, non-aggressive and is well suited for a family home, although not with small children due to his size and playfulness. He is a pet and will not be adopted for any other reason. X loves playing with a variety of toys, especially Kongs and dog peanut butter or similar. He is strong on the lead and while he can do some lovely loose lead walking, his adopter must be prepared to carry on with his positive reinforcement training. His toilet training is almost 100%, just needs a few reminders but he does have a "time window" in which he goes. He is friendly and playful with other dogs but still has a tendency to 'puppy pounce' so if he were to live with another dog, not only would he need gradual introductions but would also need a dog of similar size. However he can also be an only dog too. He can be left for several hours, is crate trained and will go in his crate on command or when he is tired. Initially he is unsure about travelling in vehicles but he soon settles. He would not be suitable to live in a household with cats. And any adopter must like drool - as a mastiff, he can drool!
For more information, please make contact with us and we will do our best to answer your enquiries fully.
We very much advocate "adopt, don't shop" but it is important to remember that all animals throughout their lifetime, can be very expensive indeed for the food, training, the vet fees, flea and worm treatment, toys and accessories, grooming fees, boarding (kennel and cattery) and / or pet sitting and walking fees etc. Please do not forget to consider these while you are considering whether you are a good match with a rescue animal.

Bedfordshire Police seized Sky in June 2024, suspecting that she was an unregistered XL Bully and kept her in kennels....... until now!

Her loving owners had saved her from a breeder who just didn't want her as the XL Bully ban was approaching. But when seized, the Dog Legislation Officer with our own county's police force did not find that she was an XL Bully, but assessed her to be of Pit Bull Type.

Finally, after seven months she is back home where she belongs.

A happy ending for a "banned breed" dog, and a happy ending for her owners too as they were not charged nor do they have to appear in court either ๐Ÿถ
