"We are in our 23rd year of business but we’ve been dog owners for double that time. We feel extremely privileged to be able to do this job and derive an income from it, but for us it’s not about the money it’s about loving what we do. All our dogs are treated as our own, they are on holiday when staying with us so they do get a little spoiled!
We are set away from any main roads in 17 acres of our own private land in a peaceful, countryside setting. Being a small, family run business, we do not employ an array of staff. Therefore, we can care for, monitor and observe our dogs personally just as we do for our own pets. Subsequently, this enables us to react quickly, efficiently and with the upmost care to any abnormal behaviour, distress or signs of illness.
We work hard at GBK to provide each of our boarders with a routine in which they thrive and respond to, or, if owners prefer, they are invited to write down their preferred routine for their pet which we follow to the letter. We walk our dogs a minimum of 4 times a day. All customers are greeted individually and personally. Secure extender leads are used. If owners permit, dogs are walked with other boarders to make new friends and socialise or for dogs who prefer their own company or for safety reasons, we walk them alone.
Keeping your dog safe, happy and content is always our priority. We do not operate a communal exercise area, we prefer the personal contact of leading up and walking, just as you would at home. For boarders unable to take exercise, we adapt to suit the individual. We are happy for owners to bring their dogs own bed or we will provide bedding within the boarding fees and make them comfy.
We always ask that you ensure to bring something for your pet which smells of home to help them settle and feel at ease. We feed our dogs at breakfast and dinner time with both wet and dry food. Each dog’s feeding requirements are discussed with owners pre boarding."
