🐶Physiotherapy for our older dogs this winter❄️
▫️The colder months can make day to day tasks and walks a little more difficult.
▫️ Along with regular physio to help keep your dogs pain, comfort and activity managed, here’s a few tips to help keep your older dogs comfortable:
- ❇️ COATS: especially for the older and thin hair dogs to ensure they maintain body temperature
- ❇️ KEEPING THEM DRY: after a wet or muddy walk, drying them off at home (don’t forget between the paws) prevents dampness which could lead to other health issues affecting their skin.
- ❇️ EVEN GROUND: helping to keep them steady and consistent in their steps. This can be level soft surfaces like short grass or flatter sand. Softer surfaces results in less concussive forces running through the joints
- ❇️ LENGTH OF THE WALK: on a particularly colder day it is best to keep with shorter walks but more frequent for example two 15/20 minute walks instead of one 45minute to an hour walk so that they are not out in the cold for too long and have chance to warm up at home again
