Top tips for puppy owners 🐾

1. Puppy biting is completely normal. puppies explore the world through their mouth. They come into our homes from a group of siblings where they were allowed to chew and bite each other. So it is understandable that they might not realise straight away that they can’t bite us too! If the biting is excessive, explore some underlying reasons which could be exacerbating the behaviour 🦈

1. It’s super important to understand how your dog is feeling, especially during the socialisation period. Keeping your puppy relaxed and under threshold will help create positive and rewarding experiences 😌

1. Crate training is great for providing a safe space for your dog for naps and relaxation. Creating a positive association with the crate will make training much easier! 🏡

1. Dogs perform behaviours for a reason. It’s unlikely that they ripped up your favourite trainers just for the sake of it! Find out the thing driving the behaviour and then solve it! 👟

1. Not all training needs to be structured and serve a purpose. Trick training is a great way to build a bond with your new puppy and have fun together! 💕

1. Having a dog is expensive!! 😅 It’s always a good idea to have a pot set aside for any emergency costs which pop up! They do enjoy keeping us on our feet…
