Check out the amazing difference a laser treatment made to Paddington’s wound healing! Swipe for the before 😊

Paddington has recently damaged his cruciate ligament and will be going for surgery in the next couple of weeks. Following his pre op test his blood test sight unfortunately became infected due to him over licking it. We popped the laser on it on a wound healing setting during his routine physio appointment and the healing has been amazing. This picture was just 18 hours after his physio session! 😊

Excellent advice from The Harrogate Vet Physio. Arthritis doesn’t mean your pets need to suffer, physiotherapy can play a huge role in keeping your animals happy and active!

Unfortunately arthritis is a degenerative joint disease, in which the tissues in the joint break down over time. There is no cure for arthritis but it can be successfully managed and progression of the disease can be slowed!

A multimodal approach is needed for successful management of arthritis - this means changing just one thing is unlikely to make a difference. There needs to be lots of tweaking here and there and working out what works best for you and your dog.

This might involve:

✅Talking to your vet about pain medication (there's plenty out there!)
✅Booking a session with your local physiotherapist and trying hydro, laser, physio...
✅Correctly exercising your dog - little and often is normally better than walking their socks off!
✅ Controlling their weight - extra weight will put extra force through their sore joints, causing inflammation and more pain!
✅Getting the right nutrition and adding joint supplements to their diets
✅ Making some changes at home - like putting down non slip rugs, using ramps instead of stairs etc.

Arthritis doesn't have to be unbearable for your pet - correct management really is key!

If your dog struggles with arthritis, get in touch and we can talk through everything that might help!

Dot was very chilled considering this was only her second physio session post spinal surgery. The owners have noticed a huge improvement in her since we’ve started her on a home exercise program. She’s now able to stand unassisted for short periods and is taking herself to the toilet again! Can’t wait till see how she improves over the next few months 🤞🏻😊
Thanks again to for hosting me!

My annual attempt at a Christmas picture of all 3 monsters went slightly better this year… with the help of copious snacks 🤣 at least they’re all looking in the right direction! Happy Christmas everyone 🎄♥️ thank you so much for all your amazing support this year and your patience at the delayed opening of the centre. I’ve been thoroughly spoilt with presents and I can’t wait to open them all tomorrow (apart from the edible ones that I’ve already started on!) 🙈 I’ll be back to treating your animals on the 28th - no rest for the wicked! I promise I’ll try to get better at keeping the social media up to date next year 😅

What a lovely report showing just how effective hydrotherapy can be for a dog’s recovery. It’s great to see hydro and physio getting a bit of media coverage to spread the word. I’m very excited that Fraser Vet Physio will be able to offer hydrotherapy in the new year! 😊

A puppy with deformed legs is now a top sniffer dog thanks to special treatment in a swimming pool.

It’s going to be very hot over the next few days so make sure you’re sensible with walks and remember - no dog will die from missing a walk but heatstroke can have serious, fatal consequences. Try some fun water based, cooling enrichment activities instead such as frozen Kongs/Lickimats. And if you do walk your dog, make sure it’s early in the morning or late at night once it’s cooler!

If anyone feeds their cats these foods please stop IMMEDIATELY! Pancytopenia can be fatal, if you have any concerns about your cats health please call your vet. Any reputable pet shop should be able to give you advice on an alternative foods.

If any clients are unsure what to do then please get in touch and I can help point you in the right direction.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR CAT OWNERS:

There are rising cases of pancytopenia (a reduction in all blood cells) in cats being reported, which can be fatal. As a result of this, some cat foods are being recalled.

If you have been feeding your cat one of the below brands, please stop immediately:

AVA, Applaws and Sainsbury’s own brand.

If you have been feeding your cat one of these brands, and your cat appears unwell please contact your vet for more advice.

We have a sad little pup here at Fraser HQ, Cooper got very lucky after being hit by a car yesterday afternoon and has come away with just scrapes and bruises. He’s now capitalising on the sympathy and getting as many treats and cuddles as possible 🤣🐶

This why it’s always advisable to lift your dog in/out of the car (or train them to use a ramp) where possible. This amount of force can cause long term damage to your dogs joints, or exacerbate existing, painful issues 🐶

For further advice, information or to book an appointment, please get in touch.

Do you let your dog jump in and out of the car?? You might not after reading this!! 😮

A study has shown that when jumping from the boot of a car, six times the dogs body weight will pass through the joints of the front legs... SIX TIMES their body weight. Imagine that on already painful joints!
But out of habit and due to lack of other options your dog will still do it!

So lets try and give them another choice!
By training your dog to use a ramp or to be lifted into and out of the car you can spare them a lot of pain and perhaps even help slow the progression of their disease 🐕 💙 😁
