❤️ Well friends, today is my last day in my foster home and tomorrow is the start of another adventure in my forever home!! ❤️

💕 Foster mum says I’m not the same dog that was carried off the van at Ferrybridge four months ago. I think she’s daft, of course I’m the same dog, no-one has swapped me 🤣

🤗 I think she means I am now super confident, compared to a few months ago and I’m beginning to realise that people aren’t always going to hurt me 😢

💕 I’m sure my forever family will help me to update my page, so you haven’t heard the last of me just yet!! I’m super excited for tomorrow but also a bit nervous but foster mum has told me to put my best paw forward and life will be good 😁

😍 I will leave you with a few piccies of my time with my foster family. My foster doggie family were just the best!! My new family have two other doggies to play with so I won’t be lonesome 👍

😁👍 This morning I have been for coffee, in a cafe, with Chester!! ❤️

🐾 Today was the day foster mum decided I needed another new experience in my life. I was a little bit bewildered when we first went inside. The door slammed, which made me jump but things soon got better😍

😊💕 It turns out cafes are quite nice and it was VERY warm inside, which always makes me happy. A nice chap offered me two treats and I took them from him. Foster mum said this was another breakthrough moment. She does seem to like that word 🙈🤗

❤️ New experiences do worry me at first but foster mum says I’m a bit like a young horse (flippin cheek) and just need time for my brain to process what’s happening in front of me ❤️

Foster mum was asked to write some words about me a while ago, just a few weeks after I arrived. Well, I think it’s time I did an update because even I know I’m a totally different boy to the skinny, scared boy that was carried off the van at Ferrybridge all those weeks ago!!

While it’s true that I like routine and this gives me confidence, I also very much like exploring new places now. Life just doesn’t scare me like it used to. Sudden movements and sounds don’t make me jump several feet in the air anymore!! I do however appreciate a calm environment. I’ve not shown any aversion to children but living with them full-time may still be a bit too much for me.

As I relax more every day, I like to show everyone my playful side. It is definitely there but was pretty much well hidden before. I LOVE playing with Chester and Ronnie. Willow occasionally likes to play and that is great fun too. I do think I need a permanent doggy pal in my life to play with and give me confidence. I’m not sure I would do well on my own.

Meeting people is something I take in my stride now. This used to cause me great fear but I realise now that no-one will deliberately hurt me and I am much happier to be touched. Once I’m totally comfortable around someone, I am the BIGGEST cuddle monster you could ask for!!

I do have a few ‘quirks’, shall we say. I’m happy to be left home alone but prefer having company all the time. I’m a bit of a monkey and will chew my bedding, oops!! I don’t chew anything else though so that’s a bonus!! Foster mum says she’s heard me bark twice so I’m definitely not noisy either.

I’m a handsome boy, or so I’ve been told constantly. Apparently I look smashing now I’ve put on a bit of weight. I’ve been told I’m one of those dogs where everything is perfectly in proportion.

Life is sweet in my foster home but foster mum is a bit of a wimp and can’t cope with four of us long term so I am still looking for a permanent home to call my own. I know she will miss me terribly cos I’m just perfect!!

Sorry for being a bit quiet for the last few days. It’s been a little bit busy here at my foster home and, despite me being VERY clever, I do need a bit of help posting on Facebook. I have rather big feet you know 🐾😂

Fun in the park tonight with foster mum’s friend Lucy. I really like Lucy as you can see from the piccies. Despite my rubbish start to life, I trust people more and more every day ❤️

The absolute best bit about tonight was rolling in the grass and the SQUIRREL!!! It ran right in front of us. I was quite excited but silly Ronnie screamed enough to shatter glass 😱

Well, I know I’m the same colour as a carrot but I’m not sure I’m supposed to eat them 🥕🙄

Foster mum does like to add nice things to our tea from time to time and I’ve been more than pleased with eggs, yogurt and lovely smelly tuna but carrots!! Well, once I finished throwing them round my bowl for a while, I decided they were quite nice and tasty ❤️😁

It’s been a big day. I made two new human friends this morning. They were very kind and gentle, just like everyone I’ve met so far. Their doggy friend was very bouncy and friendly too 🤗🐾

I’ve had another one of those ‘milestone’ days today, whatever that means. We often walk through the park but this morning I was actually brave enough to say hello to the gardener all on my own, without having to be encouraged ❤️😊

I have a few special friends that I trust now but this chap is new to me. I was sooooo brave and felt very proud of myself afterwards 👍🐾

Apparently I’ve come a long way, whatever that’s supposed to mean. Obviously, it’s a long way - I’m from Cyprus!!

Apparently today has been a milestone day, whatever that means??? What, you might ask, have I done to deserve such an accolade? I had a wee on a walk 🙈

I’ve loved going for walks but I’ve not quite been able to relax enough to think about also performing my ablutions as well 😂

I also let another person, other than foster mum, stroke me. This is still the thing that scares me most in the world as I expect all humans to treat me badly but this chap was nice and gentle and talked to me kindly. That’s three new human friends I’ve made now 🤗

It’s hard to put my past life behind me but I’m making progress every day, or so I’ve been told. I’ve also been told that I need to stop waking up at 4.30 am for a wee but I’m ignoring that advice for now ☀️

Sarge is a very special boy. His nervousness tells you he hasn’t had an easy life and has been treated harshly in the past. You would think this would make him hate the world but he doesn’t. He still has a huge capacity to trust, it just takes him longer than most dogs. His trust with other dogs however is immediate so he definitely needs another dog or dogs in his life.

He has come on a massive amount from the really scared boy that was carried off the van at Ferrybridge services a few weeks ago. He’s now ‘joining in’ with family life. By that I mean coming and sitting on the settee in the evening and watching TV, nothing exciting. It’s a big step though because he very much preferred to stay away on his own in the bedroom for the first few weeks.

He is becoming more and more confident every day when we’re out walking, so much so I’ve had to put a halti on him. He’s not massively strong but he does get a bit excited if he sees a squirrel or a bird up close and I prefer to have more control. He isn’t phased by the halti at all.

Things you might expect to worry him don’t bother him in the slightest, like the washer, vacuum cleaner, lorries, cars, tractors. Not a peep of fear. It’s humans that have caused his anxiety and worry sadly. We meet many people out and about and he will stand nicely to chat but is not yet happy to be touched by anyone unfamiliar, which is fair enough. My other three adore everybody so hopefully he will pick up on their lack of fear.

He can quite quickly revert to being fearful. Even while I’m typing this, he’s just trotted up to me and I’ve moved my foot off the foot stool. It took him by surprise and he’s spooked about two foot across the decking!! He is however very forgiving of silly things like that and came back for a fuss.

He’s a skinny fella and I’m struggling to get any weight on him despite him eating loads. He’s healthy though so there’s nothing to worry about. My vet would probably say he’s a perfect weight!!

I get the impression he is thriving on a routine. He then knows exactly what’s expected of him. He is good to be left although he does chew his bedding up sometimes. All my Cyprus gang are in crates if I go out and he happily trots into his big crate next to Chester and Ronnie. He doesn’t make a fuss when he’s left.

He is a super special, incredibly friendly, non aggressive boy who is also incredibly beautiful to look at (he does turn heads). He will however need bags of time and patience to settle somewhere new. If I reasonably thought I could cope with four dogs in the winter, he could stay with me because he’s not been a scrap of trouble. He can stay as long as he likes until a perfect home is found.

Sarge is currently in foster in South Yorkshire.

I’ve been told I’m doing ‘very well’, whatever that means. We go a little bit further every morning on a walk and this morning we went across a new field with loads of lovely smells 😁

I love my housemates as you can see and I will happily spend the day trotting round the garden or snoozing 💤

I’m wagging my tail a LOT now which foster mum says is lovely to see. I do still get scared now and again but I’m doing ok 👍

🌤️ Good afternoon everyone 😊

I thought I would share some piccies of my first week here in Barnsley. As you can see, I’ve been made very welcome 🤗. Willow likes me too, we just haven’t posed together yet 😍

I’ve put on my best big boy brave pants and been for a little walk with Chester the last couple of days. Just to the end of the road and back. I was quite scared and nervous but Chester gives me confidence and foster mum gives me time to work out what’s happening. I’ll get there, slowly 👍

I’ve been told I’m a very special boy and didn’t deserve the rough start I’ve had but apparently all that is behind me now 😁

It’s official, I’m now a UK resident 😁

I’m a little bit nervous so I’m spending a lot of time today just listening to the sounds in the garden and napping 💤

As you can see from the piccies, I am a bit of a handsome dude (or so I’ve been told). Chester, Ronnie and Willow are my new best pals and Chester keeps bringing me his toys to play with, which makes me feel really welcome ❤️

New boy from the pound his name is Sarge and he is 3 years old , big lad at 63cm tall to the shoulder but currently only weighing 19 kilos as very skinny
