I’ve said it before, but I’m saying it again, settle in with a cuppa ☕️

If you were having an operation would you want a trained surgeon, or a hobby surgeon🩺

If you were in court, would you want an expert barrister, or a hobby barrister? ⚖️

If you were getting a tattoo, would you want an expert tattoo artist or someone who does it as a hobby? 🎨

You might think…..

But they are cheaper?
But they are really nice?
The home is so cozy?
They seem like they know what they are doing?
Aunt Marjorie up the road, said they are great!!!

It’s EXACTLY the same with Puppies, and “Hobby Breeders”, they may have been doing it for years, they may talk the talk, they may have a fantastic instagram page, they may be giving you a great deal, they may even say you can have two for the price of one!!! 😬 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ask the WHY❓ Why aren’t they licensed❓

🛡️Licensing has one purpose - to SAFEGUARD THE ANIMALS in that environment 🛡️

There is always a WHY and that answer could be the difference between a happy ending, or not.

💴 ANY person advertising and selling a litter of puppies where the turnover - not profit exceeds £1000 needs a license. End of. I have the qualification to categorically say - this is fact 💴

❌IF YOU DRIVE A CAR ONCE A YEAR, YOU STILL NEED A LICENSE - ITS EXACTLY THE SAME WITH DOG BREEDING! ❌

🚩 A buyer has NO PROTECTION at all when buying from an unlicensed breeder.

🚩 The animals have NO PROTECTION at all when buying from an unlicensed breeder.

Selling puppies without a license is a serious offence, and buying puppies from unlicensed breeders just perpetuates the cycle of unethical breeding which fill rescues😢

📞 You can report any unlicensed breeding activity in your area to your own councils licensing department. 💻

I talk to you as someone who holds the OFQUAL goverment accredited licensing inspectors qualification. 👩🏻‍🎓

I do offer a mentoring programme for those wanting to achieve licensing - there is no excuse to breed without a license but We all have to start somewhere!! - I’m happy to help, Why? Because it’s of benefits to the animals, and that’s what is important. 🤝📲📑

There are sooo many legitimate licensed breeders, to approach; so if my waiting time does not fit for you, or I’m not in your area. I can certainly signpost you to someone credible that is licensed. 📜📯

The absolute best bit is that when I challenge unlicensed breeders -especially local ones, I get “you’re just threatened” or that I’m a “bully”, because I’m following the law? 🤯

🚨 When going to a licensed breeder due diligence is still needed! Ask the questions, what rating are they? - Why? Look at the dogs and puppies environment and the knowledge the breeder has. If anything feels off, trust your gut! And feedback to licensing so they can adhoc inspect 🚨

Dedication is travelling 300 miles from the Isle of Man to collect your puppy (then having to stay an extra day as the boat home is cancelled 🙈)

When she finally gets home, she has 5 children to meet - none of whom know she is on her way! But for now, she is showing off her toilet training skills and totally content personality 🥰

🐾 NANCY – URGENT - EMERGENCY FOSTER HOME NEEDED 🐾

• Nancy 3 years old
• Standard Wire Dachshund
• Wild boar
• Neutered

We are looking for an emergency foster home for Nancy. Nancy was rehomed last year to a home with multiple dogs but unfortunately has been attacking the smaller dogs in the home. It has now become critical that she is moved to a home as an only dog.

Nancy suffers from anxiety which results in licking, tail chasing barking, etc, She can guard toys and has a potential to bite if you try to remove food or toys so this will need to be managed. Due to her resource guarding and potential to bite, Nancy cannot be homed with children.

Nancy is house trained; crate trained and can be left up to 4 hours. She is a loving girl but is very anxious, scared of strangers and loud noises.

If you have a quiet home with minimal visitors and can provide both physical and mental stimulation for Nancy to work on her anxieties, walks in a quiet area without too many people and other dogs can help with Nancy as an emergency foster we will have a behaviourist on board from the start

Requirements in an emergency foster home

- No cats or dogs or other small animals
- Quiet, calm, adult only home
- Minimal visitors
- Access to quiet walks
- Someone who willing to work on her anxieties

Grab a cuppa - bit of a long post coming up!

We have had a lot of messages recently about up and coming litters & being added to our waiting list & felt now was a good time to clarify our process.

We have always used a waiting list, whereby potential owners fill out our pretty lengthy questionnaire, we read over it, do some background research🕵️‍♀️ then accept any families we feel are the right fit for our pups.
We then get in touch with them when we have a confirmed mating/pregnancy/birth.

The major problem with this system is that we are small breeders. We have one, possibly two litters a year, all being well, but Mother Nature sometimes means this changes and our potential owners are waiting a bit longer. We are ‘hobbyist’ breeders really, but hobby breeders who take it very seriously. We have been awarded the highest number of stars from our council inspection, and are also KC assured and also hold all relevant qualifications. Our records are scrutinised, and so are we - as it should be. We health test all of our girls, we won’t breed from them if things aren’t 100%, and we look for studs that will enable us to produce outstanding pups that are a prime example of the breed. In an ever changing world of people trying to make a quick buck with cheap, badly bred, poor quality dogs, this is something we pride ourselves on.

Our girls are our pets first and foremost. We do not churn out puppies left right & centre, and that will not change. This means that you could be on our list for 2 years plus before your pup comes up. We believe they are worth waiting for, and they are, but many don’t want to wait & that’s fine, but they don’t let us know so we are holding a waiting list that’s not relevant & have then turned away other families as a result.

Therefore, going forward, we will NOT have a waiting list. We have a subscription option on our website, where anyone interested in future litters is invited to sign up. You won’t be spammed - we don’t have time 😂 - but you will be the first to be told about any litters (expected and available) and if you are still interested we can go from there.

We believe that this is the fairest option & will work better for all in the future. We do have a very select number of breeders we can vouch for, and are happy to share details should you want to look elsewhere. We are about community, not competition and have no problem doing this.

For anyone already signed up for waiting lists - we’ll be in touch but don’t worry, you’re still very much on there.

And for those who already have a Squiggledax pup & have been through the process - you will always have priority ❤️

Little Miss Firecracker Flo is off to spend a life of love & adventure with her wonderful new family & we couldn’t be happier. Making sure we have found the right fit for our Sausages is always a worry but this girl is going to the most perfect home 🥰 (won’t stop us missing her though 🥹)

Always bittersweet we when get to this part, but knowing the girls are going to bring so much joy and love to their new families makes it all worthwhile 😍 2nd vaccinations done and a full health check at the vets, Puppy packs all sorted, insurance set up & microchips changed over…. We are good to go!
