Another colic for Junior…. This one more serious and the poor boy had an impaction. After an intense afternoon and evening he has slowly returned back to normal thanks to vet Georgie. I was very scared for him as he was so painful. If you experience this as an owner it’s literally the worst 😞. We’re experiencing lots of colics at the moment. Many different factors can contribute from change of temperature, weather, routine, teeth issues, pain, food…. Whatever brings it on it’s very scary. Please, if your horse is off colour or not quite right, call us as soon as possible. Better to err on the side of caution with an earlier call. It’s been a very sad few weeks with quite a few horses not making it 🥹🥹🥹 colic… the worst and most worrying condition.

Ever wondered what a vet/farrier day looks like with some wild herds we look after? A beautiful autumnal day yesterday with great team work, means these beautiful ponies have lovely trimmed hooves ready for the next few months! Thank goodness this appointment was booked for yesterday rather than today… not sure all involved would have enjoyed the deluge of rain forecast all day and night today. 🛟🦆 have a wonderful Friday everyone…. Stay dry if you can ❤️

Gooood morning! Happy Tuesday to you all 🥰 vet Jarred was on call this weekend and had a number of visits including this poor baby who’d received a nasty kick from their field mate 🫣 unfortunately Facebook does not like it when we post anything slightly graphic and send us to Facebook prison, so you will have to imagine the skin that was hanging and appreciate Jarred’s stitching skills instead! 😂 we wish you all a calm and dry day 🙏🏻 have a good one 😘

Yay it’s Friday 🙌🏻 and to finish the week we have been sent this great photo of vet Eduardo with our nurse Kat in action. This is Rupert ❤️ and Rupert was having pain from an infected tooth. After assessing at a previous visit we arranged for the guys to start early one morning before Edu left for his holiday. A few hours later and that tooth was out leaving Rupert happier and his owner Kate relieved! And Edu free for his hollibobs! We are certainly being kept busy with dentals and tooth removals recently without the need for referral (where possible) saving £££ for owners 🥰 have a wonderful day everybody!

Morning everyone! And a happy Thursday to you all ❤️ here is handsome Howard who belongs to vet Jess. Howard was receiving a treatment with the amazing physio, Jo Spear getting all those sore bits looked at and manipulated! It’s amazing to watch other equine professionals in action and part of a wider team to keep your horses happy and healthy! The life of a horse eh? 🥰 have a great day everyone ❤️

Happy Monday you lovely lot! We hope you had a lovely weekend, proper autumn weather now with showers and wind be blowing! Messages with pictures from our lovely clients are always a very much welcomed gift! As we know the vets can be pretty deaf with my constant pleas of social media content 🙏🏻😂 so here’s Edu with Angel who is having his dental. A great pic courtesy of mum Jacky 🙏🏻 so thank you. Please feel free to forward any pictures of your vet visit through to us on messenger if you’re happy for us to use them (and they’re not too graphic as Facebook doesn’t like those 🙄) Happy Monday to you all 🥰

Happy Monday everyone… so yesterday little Junior had colic. As a horse owner I’ve been very lucky and never had to deal with colic before. I know how scary it is and the outcome can be extremely sad no matter how much everyone battles! His signs were subtle, I caught him laying flat out which was unusual but he got up as soon as he saw me, then an hour later I caught him rolling. Neither were particularly unusual for a horse, but they were for him especially when he got up but continued to paw the ground. A quick phone call to vet Jess who was on call and luckily she wasn’t at another emergency. An hour later after being examined, tubed and with warm water left in his belly and a quick shot of pain killer we left him by himself on the yard with no hay. Donkey Burt was not happy he was left out on the track in the rain 😂With hourly/2 hourly checks on junior till bedtime (with no signs of pain) and then this morning at 5:30 he is still looking pain free…. Just hangry! 😂 I know I work with awesome vets, but when they come and save a much loved family member, it’s another reminder of the fact that not all heroes wear capes and I am truly thankful that Jess was quick to arrive, calm and confident …. As I felt none of those emotions! ❤️😂 and with that, we shall wish you all a very happy Monday!

And there you go! Another successful and packed evening at our talk about the Geriatric Horse! Thank you to everyone that came and supported the event and all of you that bought tickets for the raffle in aid of World Horse Welfare… we will tally the takings today but think (🤞🏻) we raised over £700! There are some winners that weren’t at the event I will text today. Special thanks go to John Blake farrier who spoke about older horse issues with all things hoof and joints, Sara from Neigh2weigh for bringing her portable weigh scales and Sue and the staff at World Horse Welfare who stayed late and helped us. Of course, personally I’d like to thank my amazing work family who I have the privelage to spend my days with. They amaze me daily with their knowledge, kindness and humour and I feel honoured to learn from these clever people daily! 🙏🏻😘

Ohhhh it’s a tad wet and windy out there this morning! BUT by tonight’s it should be calm again so we are looking forward to seeing all those with tickets for tonight’s talk at World Horse Welfare in celebration of our 3rd Birthday! Doors open at 7pm and the talks will kick off between 7:15-7:30. The raffle will be called at the end of the evening so you can buy tickets prior if you wish too. We have a cake (a random toddler decorated but I’m sure it tastes better than it looks) 😂 nibbles and bubbles to also enjoy after the talks! We can’t wait to see you all and again, thank you for making this a ‘fully booked’ event! Over 100 will be attending ❤️🙏🏻 you guys literally rock!!!
