Happy Monday everyone! So for those that are interested, I am, slowly, adding more enrichment to the track system I have in place for Junior and Burt! I introduced a homemade feeder toy…. Which has gone down a storm once Burt stopped finding it alike to a fire breathing dragon! I filled this with a few handfuls of low sugar hay pellets but will add some chunks of celery and water melon rind apparently? Anyone else tried this? So simple to make and now I know it works we have installed a ‘puzzle/treat’ area on the track to add more enrichment/boredom busters… will video and share when I have footage of usage 🤣 if anyone wants one of these empty water coolers let me know as we have them at the office ready for recycling! When you ask the vet to get some footage of nurse Kat using her skills using the sedation gun! 🤣 Yes, apparently there are horses there and I can just make out Kat 🙄🤣 to be fair to Charlotte, this was a frustrating day as the horses had too big a space to get away from Kathryn and knew how to use that to their advantage! So (after several hours) out of 4, 2 were darted to sedate and were moved to a different part of the reserve, the other 2 will be seeing us this week! So…. Shrimp here was giving mum a bit of a headache by not eating her 5 day worming course! Her mum had tried all normal tricks and was out of ideas so asked us for any new hiding tactics she could try? Georgina was told by one of our lovely clients previously, that she used edible Peppermint essence (cake/biscuit flavouring) to disguise anything for her pony, a couple of drops usually works! So video evidence of Shrimp finishing her tea + wormer with absolutely no shenanigans due to a few drops of the peppermint essence! We love sharing clever ideas and solutions with clients!
