On Tuesday this week I had the great opportunity to meet two brilliant owners and their very handsome, lovable cockapoo Buttler and to be able to help them with some training and general help and advice.

To say Buttler worked really well (and his owners) is an understatement all three were brilliant, worked hard, took on board the training, and as you can see Buttler his enjoying a well deserved rest.

I am very much looking forward to continue helping Buttler's owners with his training, and can't wait to see them all again.

Thank you

Puppy Obedience Sessions

Do you have a new puppy? Are you looking for a professional, caring, supportive puppy trainer?

I am offering group sessions (rather than on going weekly classes) for all new puppy owners in my enclosed field. Puppies must have had their full inoculations to attend.

Ages from full inoculation up to 8 months of age.

I will be offering two consecutive sessions per month (the other two weeks will be revising and homework/practical and theory) the sessions will be on going.

If you want to learn and teach your dog obedience, the sessions will include:

Recall (progressing to distractions) and to include 1/2 sessions out and about with your puppy to introduce distractions and to perfect the recall in "real life" terms.

Sits - Downs - Stands - basic to adding in distractions and expanding on these exercises.

Walking on the loose lead

Working around other dogs

Full help and support during training

Sessions will be offered on a Saturday and Tuesdays in the day time. (depending on numbers)

Morning folks,

I do hope that you are all keeping safe and well, and that you are able to get out with your dog for some exercise.

In the light of the Prime Minister's updates yesterday -Once the ferries re-starts- I am pleased to say that 1-2-1 training will resume and of course ensuring that we follow Health and Safety Guidelines and Social Distancing.

However as I am already taking future bookings already for when I return to work - I thought some of you may have been thinking about your dog's future training, or you may need help with your dog's behaviour - and if I can help you and your dog by meeting in my enclosed field then please let me know.

Once the ferries allow me over I shall come for a whole day training in my enclosed field working through each appointment then returning home the same day in my own car thus not travelling on public transport. (On the ferry you don't get out of your car which is a great safety factor for me at the moment). Social distances, H&S advice will be followed to the letter!

It's a start, but I can't wait to resume and starting helping you and your dogs again.

See you soon
Keep Safe
Ros
Please f.b. message or email me to book a future appointment.

Big thank you to Jackie, and Belle for bringing Poppy along for me to work with at the bark2school dog day care centre. Poppy has developed separation anxities as she loves her owners very much! -I thought I would try Poppy at the dog day care to see how she interacts with the other dogs, and to see whether she missed her her owners.

Her first session was a great success, she was slightly nervous to begin with - but certainly wasn't as anxious that her owners had left her - and she seemed to cope very well. Having spoken to Poppy's owners I have decided that small sessions (in terms of time) would benefit her more than just turning up for a dog day care day. Danny who owns the dog day care has been kind enough to understand how Poppy is feeling and is going to work with her owners (and work with me) on ensuring that Poppy is happy and relaxed at the centre.

Lots of observations, care and undertanding will take place and I shall be following Poppy very carefully to see if she needs any further support (and her owners).

Here is Poppy (the black puppy) with her new friend Reggie.

Well done Poppy. and well done Jackie & Belle!!!!

(permission given by Poppy's owners and also permission given by Reggie's owner to use their photographs)>

Thank you

Its so lovely to see and get updates from owners that I have helped either with behavioural problems, or the obedience side of training, and training a new behaviour can be so rewarding for a trainer - and for the owner to see the change in a behaviour with their beloved dog.

Let's take Stanley! I met Stanley and his lovely owner end of last year for a behavioural consultation. The owner wanted help in understanding Stanley's behaviour and how she could eventually stop crating him when she went to work and what was involved in changing his behaviours when she was out of the house.

There was lots to discuss and observe about Stanley and his owner - from my point of view. I advised on changes to the home and the layout of the home. Helped her understand when and how a crate could be used (or not) - and to learn how to engage with Stanley in a positive way - We discussed other issues such as exercise, nutrition, and future training. The whole consultation was amazing and positive. A smashing owner and dog to work with and I am so proud to say that I am continuing with Stanley's training this year.

Anyhow enough of that - Update from the owner - and wow what a difference - Stanley's crate has gone, he has the freedom of the house and is a different dog around the house (according to the owner).

Well done Stanley & V! - so proud of you both.
