#HandFeeding - this is something that weโve been really interested in, and simultaneously struggling with, ever since finding out about the concept at the start of the year.
Now some of you might not have heard much about it, and thatโs not surprising considering thereโs ABSOLUTELY NO RESOURCES out there to help (not speaking from experience or anything ๐) but essentially it is the art of only ever feeling your poochโs daily food from your hands - simple right?!
The idea is that itโs meant to be amazing for;
- human-pup relationship; because feeding time becomes a joint activity where youโre both present and just enjoying one anotherโs company โค๏ธ
- Their focus on you; since they begin to learn that OH MY GOSH ALL THE GOOD STUFF COMES FROM THE BIG MONKEYS HAND WHATS NEXT I LOVE THIS ๐ฆง
- Food aggression; doesnโt give them a chance to guard a food resource (PLEASE CONSULT A BEHAVIOURAL PROFESSIONAL IF YOURE STRUGGLING WITH RESOURCE GUARDING)๐ฅ
- Training; because, hey, guess what! If youโre lucky enough to have a super duper foodie dog, then theyโll actually willingly WORK for their food while out on walks etc, which means that you have so many opportunities to really nail those distance downs!๐ฆฎ
- Fussiness; over timeโฆapparently?๐
Our Teeks is perhaps the fussiest dog ever which has made our journey into hand feeding a bit of a nightmare, BUT when you start really getting into the swing of it, it does generally have some great benefits โบ๏ธ
