🩸Have you been offered a blood test for your pet before surgery? Blood tests are really important especially as our pets get older. They can help us with early detection of certain diseases such as kidney or liver disease.🩸

The first grass seed of the year! Sadly little Dolly here found a little grass seed and kept it hidden away in her ear.

Dolly said "My ear hurt so much that I didn't want Brad to look in it but after a little sleep it's now all better again!"

These pesky little seeds can get everywhere and because they are barbed, once they're in, they are really tricky to get out again and often require sedation to remove!

Try to check your pet's paws, ears and noses after walks as these are the grass seed hotspots!

Well the hot weather looks like its here to stay and after a long period of cold weather, its lovely to see that sun!

As lovely as this sun is for us, however, our pets may struggle a little more! Breeds with thick coats such as Huskies and Chows are more at risk of overheating and Brachycephalic breeds such as: Pugs, Frenchies, Bulldogs and Brittish Shorthair cats may struggle to regulate their breathing in hot weather.

It is REALLY important that we are extra careful about walking our pets in this heat as they can quickly develop heatstroke which can become fatal. If you think its too hot, give the walk a miss that day or take them out later in the evening when it is cooler.

If you suspect your pet may have heatstroke, please contact us immediately as there is no time to wait. The sooner we can treat your friend the better!

The only hotdogs we want is the BBQ kind! ;)

The link below has some really good advice about first aid that we can all do as owners to help with heatstroke whilst you are on the phone to us at 01202 624140 or 01929 552599!

Attention all small furry owners!

Do you have a good flystrike prevention treatment for your rabbit or guinea pig?

Flystrike is when flies lay their eggs in the fur of animals, most commonly when the fur is contaminated with urine or faeces as this creates a warm and moist environment.

The rise in temperatures during the summer creates perfect conditions for flies to lay their eggs. It is really important to check your small furries atleast once a day in the summer months, especially around the genitalia as this is a really common area for flystrike.

For more information you can visit https://rabbitwelfare.co.uk/flystrike-in-rabbits/ or get in contact with us through our facebook, email or phone.

Our Story

The Pet Health Partnership is a group of two veterinary practices based in Dorset. With surgeries in Upton and Wareham we provide 24/7 veterinary care for Poole, Swanage, Wareham and the South Coast.

We have four fully qualified, experienced vets here at the Pet Health Partnership. Tessa and Natasha are our Wareham vets and Lorna and Anthony work at our Upton branch. Alongside our team of vets we have four established Registered Veterinary Nurses. Ellie is based at our Wareham branch and Claire, Leanne and Lisa cover the Upton clinic. All our vets and nurses do rotate between both practices from time to time. Rhiannon is our first year student who has just begun her Veterinary Nurse training and Emily has just joined the team as a Nursing Assistant. Annabel works as our full time Practice Manager and Sue oversee’s insurance at the Wareham branch. Linda, Nicki, Anita, Jo and Hannah make up our friendly and efficient reception team.

Our mission is to keep healthy pets healthy as well as dealing with problems and accidents as they arise. Please do not hesitate to speak to anyone should you require any help or advice. We are happy to help :)
