Cats Protection champions neutering or spaying as the only effective way to reduce the number of unwanted cats in the UK.
There are so many benefits to neutering your cat, but we can understand that it is a worry for people.
You can find more information on cat and kitten neutering here: https://www.cats.org.uk/what-we-do/neutering
For all those lovely supporters who came to see us at Pets at Home Farnham over the Easter weekend we thought you might like to see what we used some of your donation money for.
We often have to hand-rear kittens, and we treated the latest batch to some new toys - although you will notice the box was quite exciting too! Kittens start to play around four to five weeks old while they are still quite wobbly on their feet. Play is an integral part of their development and playing releases 'happy hormones’ and creates positive experiences which they will carry into later life.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful vet nurses who hand rear these kittens. ❤
Cats are curious creatures and love to explore their territory and this includes your home.

Ways to keep your cat safe in cold weather 😻
Thought we would share this lovely video of Mary Christmas's kittens who are now 4 weeks old. They are really beginning to find their feet (or not on some occasions) but it made us smile!
Please note they are not available for adoption yet and we do not keep waiting lists for kittens. Thank you
Sometimes cats come into us under very sad circumstances. This beautiful pair of mini black panthers Frank and Julian do not understand that their loving owner sadly passed away and are confused to find themselves suddenly somewhere different from anything they have ever known. Because of this they are very nervous boys and that can make them harder to rehome.
Not everyone understands that some cats just need time to adjust, or that when you go for a viewing they may “hide” because they are a bit confused and very nervous.
But with time, patience and love they will settle and their wonderful fosterer has already made huge progress. Julian will now overcome his fear for a Lick e lix and a stroke and loves a catnip toy, both also now enjoy playing with flicky toys, something they were terrified of to start with. Franks favourite thing is playing “king of the castle!”
We thought you would like to see a couple of videos of them. One is in the comments as facebook will not allowed two videos to be posted together ☹ You can see Julian enjoying a Lick e lix and Julian playing his best game of “King of the Castle”
Catnip can be very popular among felines. From sniffing or chewing to vigorous head-rubbing, drooling and rolling around, this plant is easy to grow at home and can cause some entertaining behaviours from our cats. Did you know 70-80% of cats are affected by catnip, is your cat a fan? http://spr.ly/WhyDoCatsLikeCatnip

Our Branch and many others maybe closed for admissions and adoptions over the festive period, but for the volunteers and employees of @catsprotection and their branches the work continues to look after the cats in care.
A big thank you to our fosterers who will continue over the season to care for the cats in their own homes. And a thank you to all our supporters who have sent presents for the cats through our amazon wish list. These are being distributed in the hope that all our cats have a little treat on Christmas morning ❤😻🎄
Have you put your Christmas tree up yet? Here are some pointers to keep your cat safe this season. Number 6 is VERY important 😻😻
