Rolling in poop is a perfectly normal canine behaviour, it's purpose is thought to be one of 3 things.
1. To mask their own scent.
2. To spread their own scent.
3. Damn right irritating.
My point. Even a well trained dog will ALWAYS have a thing. Perfection is not a realistic goal. The human/ society perception of perfect will never tally with animal behaviour. So cut them some slack and don't sweat the small stuff!

This is socially appropriate behaviour, there is plenty of space between the dogs, they are calm and collected as well as able to check in with their owner.
Good management with a long line and some treats are essential to helping create such behaviour.
Slow down, help your dog respond to social cues and reinforce good behaviour and choices.

This simple family recall game helps everyone get involved as well as puts your dog on high reinforcement for simple behaviours.
1. Find a quite spot and place your dog on an long lead and harness.
2. Start with a small circle, when your dog is close by, that person is to offer recall command "come" and feed.
3. Take your time and allow your dog to choose as they move around the circle.
4. Now Start prompting "come" as you dog leaves the person before.
5. Increase the size of the circle, keep the same order.
6. Once reliable, nominate who goes next as you feed.
7. Take this game to new places, nearer to distractions and build this behaviour.
Competition twist.
If your dog picks you twice in a row or by mistake when someone else has called them, you're out! Step away from the circle and give the rest of the family the opportunity to build their bond.
Lighten the load.
If your dog is slow or shows no to a player they may crouch to increase their odds.
Tip
If your dog won't leave you after your go, turn your back and allow them to re engage with the rest of the players.

Count down is a simple game that will encourage your dog to interact with you around distractions. This will promote the choice to pay you attention, without damaging their recall by constantly calling them and getting no response. It's takes seconds, and the count will show your improvements, keeping you in a positive state of mind.

When your dog reacts poorly to other dogs, it can become incredibly isolating. We tend to start avoiding places, people, dogs, or even walking altogether, often to the detriment to our dogs and our own core needs and further compounding the issue.
By addressing the core routine here, we have given Rocco the space and time to be a dog as well as think and process other dogs rather than just react. In turn, we now have the space to teach and build better confidence, behaviours, and even obedience.
Often, we have to look at the bigger picture to address just one area of behaviour. I am proud to say we do not use any aversive or punative methods to get such results. Time, patience, space, and good management will ALWAY be the best tools in the box.

Play in dogs is often not only pushed, but expected as a key pillar of being social. However, there's a very big difference between fractious energy between two new dogs and FAIR PLAY between two socialally appropriate dogs.
Does the play you see with your dog have these key signs to look out for?

Are you giving your dog the space to choose to be around you!
Nothing will strengthen your recall more than having a dog that not only wants to return to you, but a dog that enjoys returning to you.
This simple exercise, "crouch & wait" in a safe area, is a great way to improve your dogs willingness to return without relentlessly practising recall.

Finding a quiet spot and allowing your dogs to move freely without having to keep up or recalling them will give your dog the time and space to take care of their own needs.
This can help them calm which in turn will male them more responsive to you and mean they both you and your dog will be enjoying the great outdoors in a far more relaxing way.

Wherever you're walking today, Take a moment. Let's remember.
Fireworks can be a big deal to many dogs. here's a few simple tips to make their evenings less stressful.
If your dog has a known history of intolerance to fireworks, I would also suggest looking at Nutraclam. This product is not a sedative and is available over the counter at most vets. It was designed specifically to help for such events

Having your dog move through the world relaxed and content will give them the space to make better choices, which in turn gives you more opportunity to reward preferred choices. Thus creating an education of good choices rather than a reliance of hit and miss obedience.
