WE'VE BEEN AWARDED GOLD STANDARD! 🌟

We are delighted to have been awarded the Gold standard in the RSPCA PawPrints Awards in the Kennelling category.

Launched in 2008, PawPrints recognises local authorities, housing providers and other public bodies who deliver higher animal welfare standards. It celebrates public sector organisations who work hard to deliver higher animal welfare standards and act as an inspiration for others to do the same.

Awards are split into five categories:

1. Stray dog services
2. Housing
3. Contingency planning
4. Animal activity licensing
5. Kennelling.

Each category has three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold - with each level carrying progressively more challenging criteria.

We're thrilled that Hope Rescue is one of only four organisations in the U.K. to receive the Gold award in this category for our work kennelling stray and seized dogs on behalf of Local Authorities. We were also thrilled to see two organisations we work closely with recognised.

Shared Regulatory Services (Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Councils) was awarded Gold in both the Stray Dog Services and Animal Licensing Activities Categories and Animal Licensing Wales were awarded the Innovator in Animal Welfare award.

More information on the RSPCA (England & Wales) PawPrints Awards can be found below.

https://politicalanimal.rspca.org.uk/england/pawprints

We are so proud of our welfare team. They work incredibly hard and uphold the highest of standards, which this award is testament to.

Defra has asked - with very short notice - for feedback on the impact the 2018 license had on small breeders of dogs.
Emails need to be sent before Monday August 22nd to [email protected]

The breeder team at Tailwise will send a letter - but the more people who email, the greater ithe chances smaller good breeders will be protected.

When you email Defra perhaps cc us in ([email protected]) andpost on this Facebook group so we can encourage as many people as possible to contact Defra. (https://www.facebook.com/tailwise)

So often decisions on this subject have primarily consulted the ‘adopt don’t shop’ lobby who may not be aware that really good small breeders exist as their pups rarely end up in rescue.

We think it’s time to stand up for good breeders and show how this way of rearing dogs means much fewer in rescue and fewer heartbroken families buying badly reared pup from the wrong person.

We at Tailwise have seen great breeders being discouraged by expensive red tape inconsistently applied across England.

People wanting to have a planned litter have been given conflicting advice as to whether or not they even need to be licensed.

Tailwise is concerned that the current license system is pro rata per pup unfairly expensive for those who breed very well on a small scale.

We are told by breeders the guidance is inconsistently applied.

Can we all ask Defra to please consider the ethical breeder by forming a think tank so licensing might improve dog welfare generally and protect the pet buying public by helping them identify breeders who do everything possible to breed happy, healthy pups that come with a lifetime of help and advice.

We would love to be able to take part in such a group and help amplify the voices of our 1,000 plus caring breeders.

Please, if you feel passionately about this, do tell Defra if the 2018 license has adversely affected small breeders and join in the discussion on our facebook group so we can all push to be heard.

Thank you so much
Sam Worthy and all the breeder team at
Tailwise.com

Warning: Super Cute Puppies! We challenge you not to fall in love.

One of our fabulous breeders has an incredible litter of Labradoodle puppies available.

Raised by responsible breeders, these puppies are already toilet trained and go to the garden to relieve themselves. They also come to you when called, sit and lay down. They have been socialised with young children, adult dogs, cats and have been exposed to a variety of situations including fireworks and car journeys.

According to the findings of Direct Line's annual pet theft report, pet theft is now at a seven-year high with almost 3,000 dogs stolen in 2021.

Unfortunately, since we wrote this article last year, things have only gotten worse. That's why we're still fighting to eliminate puppy farms, get rid of the bad breeders, and educate potential new puppy parents on the warning signs of unethical and dodgy breeders.

The theft of dogs has skyrocketed and we are living in a time where people's lives are being endangered and dogs are being ripped away from their families.

Tailwise

“A dog can show you more honest affection with a flick of his tail than a man can gather through a lifetime of handshakes.”

Tailwise is using technology to help connect responsible dog parents with ethical breeders and rehoming groups.

We want to improve animal welfare and provide transparency for the most important, emotional moment in a dog owner’s life - finding the right puppy. Our platform allows dog parents to set up a profile detailing their lifestyle, home, dog preferences, and why they want a dog. This allows our community of breeders to make an informed decision about their dog owner.

Tailwise takes the hassle out of the process with our large network of verified dog breeders, and our “no puppy farm” policy means a trustworthy, ethical source of dog ownership that’s right for everyone.
