After deciding a Labrador was the right dog breed for them via the prospect consultation, we went through the process of finding them a suitable assistance dog prospect.
We had many considerations to take into account such as being cat friendly, having some basic training and already knowing lead manners.
We aided David and Kirsty in asking the right questions and providing behavioural assessment before bringing Peggy home a few weeks ago. Due to her age and previous training she’ll be beginning public access training in the near future.
We are incredibly supportive of dogs from such a variety of backgrounds and Peggy is a beautiful demonstration.

Assistance dog puppy group
A few fun clips of our assistance dog puppy class available to members (more on our Instagram) 😊 We began this months ago where most of these puppies started with recall away from other dogs and have now worked up to parallel walking exercises vested. I also thought this was a nice clip to demonstrate the range of breeds that make wonderful ADIT’s.

A beautifully edited video from one of our members @nova.the.assistance.dog featuring ‘a day in the life’ of Nova, a adolescent Labrador who is training to be an assistance dog.
I’ll have to make a Tiktok of one of Summers working days!

I thought everyone needed to see this adorable video of our member moose heeling off lead.
Ella and moose are a lovely team, moose accompanies her to her full time job and loves every second of it as a spaniel!

I thought this was an interesting video on using the focus (eye contact) cue to interrupt stress signals : Lip licking, lowered ears, squinting, panting in a cold environment.
Many people would see this body language and see a quiet calm dog sat still. Not quite the body language I’d like to see! Those happy ears and eye contact are far better.
This is diesel! A 2 year old GSDxDoberman assistance dog in training. We’ve been working together for a good few months but have taken a more hands on approach with 1-1 sessions without his owner to improve engagement. So I’m sure we’ll have plenty more videos of him soon.
AD Class!
A beautiful sunny day with 3 pups thriving in the assistance dog puppy group! This week we were working on - engagement around other bouncy pups, a new front position for engagement, perfecting a focus cue, general heelwork, settling around other puppies and pigeons! 🐦

We had a brilliant time at our charity stand! We answered many questions and completely sold out of our treat bags and got plenty of donations for @dogaidpics ☺️

Theres been lots of milestones recently!
- The assistance dog membership has been up and running for a year (9th August 2020). And what a success it has been! We currently have over 40 assistance dogs training with us and now multiple fully trained dogs. Looking forward to what this coming year brings for the support we can provide.
- Very proud to say as per today Ive reached providing 1-1s for 200 dogs both online and in person (excluding puppy class and social group clients). This is a massive milestone for myself as a dog trainer. Dot - a little Irish terrier puppy was my 200th dog. What a cutie 🥰

Finally getting opportunities to practice focus with close contact with people and crowds. Even if its mixed in with a few breaks from training for belly rubs.
I know even Summer as an adult struggled with people excitement after the lockdowns. This is even harder for dogs going through puppyhood.
