I’ve always had dogs and been involved with horses for 25 years, working for an RDA centre for 15 years. I regularly compete in dog agility with my fabulous dog, Smudge.

Smudge and I had the weekend off to compete at the British Agility Championships. Yesterday Smudge did three great rounds and one not so good one when he got very scared of the music in the main arena.
Today, Smudge did a fab jumping round, gaining 6th place and earning enough points to come 12th overall in the Novice Stakes and qualifying for the final. Unfortunately, I knew he wouldn’t cope with the music and the atmosphere of the main arena so I decided to withdraw him as his happiness is the most important thing. I am so proud of the runs we’ve done this weekend, they were the hardest courses we’ve ever done in competition and Smudge loved the challenge 🥰🐕😍🐶
A fabulous weekend off, ready to get back to work on Monday.

Great weekend at Stonebridge Agility Show, Smudge was flying round the courses.

I spent this weekend with Reach RDA at the RDA National Championships which were held at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire. I was also able to support Penniwells RDA by leading Oliver and Tayto in the led walk/trot class which was good fun and Oliver and Tayto were a pleasure to work with. It was great catching up with the Penniwells team and looking forward to seeing them all in a couple of weeks.

We had an amazing weekend and it was a privilege to work alongside a fantastic team. The riders and ponies brought home a lot of rosettes including 2nd in the Costume Freestyle. I had a lot of sleepless nights before the freestyle but it was worth it because George, Sally and the team did an amazing job. Now it’s time to start planning for RDA Nationals 2024!!!

Smudge decided it was warm enough to have a little paddle today along with his new friend Monty. Monty is trying to convince Smudge that playing in water is good fun but I don’t think Smudge is convinced!

Spent a fantastic day at the RDA East Region Qualifiers with Reach RDA who have qualified for the RDA nationals in July, Hartpury here we come. Weather was perfect and my gorgeous watch tan line is back!😂😂😂

First agility show of the summer season today. We had a great day out with the DTCE team and managed to get two clear rounds. Great way to spend a day off at the end of a busy week of work.

Back home after a great day coaching at Penniwells RDA. It was lovely being with all the riders, volunteers and a fabulous team of horses and ponies.

Smudge and I get to spend 4 days looking after Loki and Lexi this week. Smudge likes to lead the way on our walks.

A lovely sunny and warm day for being with ponies. Two pairs of ponies (Tommy & Harry and Annie & Roy) to look after while their owners are on holiday and a fabulous ride with Henkie. What better way to spend Easter Sunday. Now off to enjoy a roast lamb dinner 😋.

A proud moment for Smudge. Today he received his winning out certificate for winning into grade 2 agility. He’s had a tough couple of weeks as he’s been unwell and had to be admitted to the vets twice. He’s now fully recovered and bouncing around like a puppy again ready to get back to training tomorrow.

Smudge is getting a lot more confident out competing and now loves his time in the arena. Now I need to run faster to keep up with him. Not bad for a 10 year old (70 in human years!!!!).

I spent a lovely afternoon at Reach RDA today, coaching some of their riders whilst enjoying this beautiful spring like weather. Here’s a video of Breacon, one of the RDA ponies enjoying a well deserved roll after a busy afternoons work.

Smudge was super at training today. My challenge was trying not to fall over on the slippery grass (that’s my excuse for my slow running!).
