My girl is still waiting to be adopted

Olivia is a small crossbreed aged around three to four years old.

Olivia was found in a cluttered yard behind some broken fences and other abandoned stuff in Romania. She had with her 6 very young puppies, probably born in that place. When scanning her it turned out she was microchipped and had actually escaped from a public shelter. The family were taken to the safety of a private shelter where Olivia could raise her babies.

Olivia is a sweet submissive girl, however
she does show signs of abuse as she will cower if approached to quickly. She is wary of strangers, especially men and will need a kind
and understanding adopter who will take the time needed to earn her love and trust. The time invested will be repaid tenfold as the lucky recipient then gets to meet the dog she is becoming with us. She is extremely food motivated & will push herself forward for a piece of ham.

In her foster home Olivia is relaxed with people she knows well. She is the happiest soul with a constant wagging tail. She likes to give her foster family nose bops and kisses. She will approach for fuss and now loves a tummy tickle. She is a a bright clever girl and does the cutest head tilt when you talk to her. She likes to be involved in the goings on at home but will also take herself off to her bed for a snooze.

Olivia loves her walks, and would need a family that are going the take her out and about so she can sniff and explore. Olivia would benefit from another calm confident dog to help her settle in. She does not like big or boisterous dogs. A quiet home with no childern under twelve would be required.

Olivia is cat tested, travels well in the car and can be left for resonable periods of time.

When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness).

It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period.
Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure.

The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm.

Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer.

Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs.

Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate.

Fences and gates must be 5foot minimum in height and secure.

If you are interested please message or call between 9am to 5pm Mon - Fri 9am to 4pm Sat on Tel 07788251197 or Tel 07899844524.

Lara fostered Norwich Norfolk

Lara is a small to medium sized crossbreed aged around two years old.

We initially met Lara on a trip to the Botosani public shelter in March 2023. She had a skin condition caused by poor diet and looked terrible. She arrived here a few weeks later and looked even worse 😢. She was terrified of us for quite some time but gradually her skin condition healed and she grew more confident around us.

Sadly the damage left by the skin condition has left her scarred but it causes her no discomfort and requires no further treatment. Of course it is noticeable and people do ask about her appearance but this just provides an opportunity to educate people on the poor conditions that she originated from.

Lara is still quite hand shy with humans but she is continually progressing in this area and this process can be speeded up in a more one to one environment. She is loving her walks now and this too is improving her confidence. Lara will need another dog as a companion in her new home and has lived happily with cats. She can live with respectful children aged twelve plus.

Lara is still a work in progress, she probably suffered tremendously in her early life and she will continue to flourish in the weeks and months ahead. She will not be an overnight cuddle companion but has huge potential to be a wonderful family member if time and love is invested in her.

Lonely hearts week! 💕

Becky fostered Norwich Norfolk

Becky is a medium sized collie cross aged around three years old.

Becky had been on our radar for well over a year when she finally came to the UK a few weeks ago. She, like so many other dogs, were held back by the transport ban caused by the Ukrainian war and she waited all that time for her chance to get out of Romania, the country that never served her well!

Becky is a nervous dog due to traumas from her past but she is very food motivated and really does want to make friends. She is not ready to trust strangers yet but is attentive to the people who take the time to gain her trust and show her they mean her no harm.

Becky will need another dog in her new home for confidence. She will need a home with no children under twelve. She is gaining confidence on walks but can still be a little unsure at times. Becky has the makings of an amazing pet and companion but anyone interested in offering her a home needs to understand this will not happen overnight and appreciate that she is worth putting the time and effort in!

She has passed her cat testing 🐈‍⬛

We have recently finished work on a new feature at the park - our dog wash station. Located next to the toilet block near the main car park, this is ideal for cleaning off your doggies before heading home. Equipped with easy access steps and a safety gate, this unit is suitable for large or small dogs and delivers warm water for 2 minutes for £1, or 4 minutes for £2. Please note that the coin meter will only accept £1 or £2 coins. Happy washing :)
