Buckinghamshire / Berkshire My name is Anna Berry Martin. I have over 20 years experience working in the equine industry. I started my career working as a sole charge groom on various yards including eventing, dressage and hunting. I went on to be manager of a NVQ and BHS training yard in Yorkshire with over 40 horses. I was self employed as an instructor and trainer for many years. During this ti

me I specialised in backing youngsters, helping owners with behavioural problems, schooling and bringing on young horses. Along the way I have taken time out to go to collage to gain various qualifications. I studied at Wellington Riding Centre, Warwickshire Agricultural Collage and Grove House Stables. My qualifications include BHSISM and Advanced National Certificate in Equine Business Management including Performance Development Certificate. I am currently studying with the Society of Master Saddlers and Neue Schule to become a Bitting Specialist and Bridle Fitter.

Finally a sunny day. I long reined Ami this morning. He's looking very handsome in this photo but swipe and you'll see the previous attempt at catching him looking nice. He was snatching a quick snooze in the sun 🌞

I rode Ami today for the first time after 9 days box rest. Last Monday he came in from the field with a deep cut on his shoulder and so has had to keep it still. Movement from walking was causing it to open and not heal. After so long in his stable he was so good. No silliness at all. He seemed very happy to be out.

Poor Ami has been on box rest for a week because somehow, he got a cut on his shoulder. It happened overnight in the field. He had a thick rug on which wasn't damaged so I've no idea how he managed to get such a significant wound. This photo is after a week. It's healing well but we're not there yet. Manuca honey has been applied each day which is making it look a bit manky. Today I walked him in hand. He was very good. No buck farting or other general silliness. Just a few gentle snorts. He can't wear a rug because it would prevent the wound healing, which is why no field time. Also the wound is right on his shoulder so any movement up until now, would have prevented it from closing.

Me a gazillion years ago (1991) at during my BHSAI training. The horse is dressage horse, Yogi Bear. I was at Wellington for a year. I worked for 6 months on the competition yard, and for 6 months on the livery yard.

Ami showing a little bit of sexy flesh in his off-the-shoulder number.
He's been lame for a few days due to a minor incident while out hacking last week. Hopefully better this week after a few days off. He'd twisted a shoe very slightly and also tweaked soft tissue within the fetlock although there has been no heat or swelling to back up this diagnosis. I'll check him again tomorrow.

Ami and I had a lovely session in the school last week. I think he really enjoyed it. He needs to build up his top line a bit. He's lost some condition over the past few months which makes fitting a saddle very tricky on his already difficult back. 🐎🐎

This is beautiful racehorse, Remi, whom I clipped last week. Considering he's only 3 years old, he was very good. He was a bit ticklish and sensitive in some areas but I got it done although it did take a while. Brian Toomey

Ba****ck schooling yesterday because Ami's saddle doesn't fit and the saddler isn't due until next week.
He's very bony and no, we didn't trot!! 😭

This is Tan. He was SO good to clip. He just stood and almost went to sleep at one point. It was sunny when we started so it was lovely and warm against the dark panels of the stable block.
This is a blanket clip body with a trace neck.

This is Bob. I gave him a blanket clip today. He was very good and stood (mostly) still.
He will be much more comfortable now. He was sweating even just standing on the yard. I took his elbow line a bit lower than normal because he tends to sweat a lot there.
