Why do groomers shave paw pads?
Not only does it improve the haircut and keep your dog’s paws cleaner after walks, but also provides several benefits to your dog’s overall well-being. Particularly in the winter months due to more rain, although can happen any time of the year, matting may build up between your dog’s toes. This causes pain as the matts become rock solid, similar to when you get a stone stuck in your shoe.
Additionally, dogs do not possess sweat glands anywhere else except their paw pads and their nose. Removing excess hair allows as much air flow as possible to these areas, allowing the dog to freely sweat.
