Warrior Equine offers equine assisted learning (EAL) courses to support those who have experienced severe psychological trauma. Primarily they work with Armed Forces personnel, veterans and emergency services, along with other groups. We are delighted that they have been approved to be listed on the Register.

When trust has been broken, and we feel constantly on the look out for threats, it can be exhausting. Getting the right people around you (or horses!) so you can feel safe and valued is key.

Sussing out how to let people into your circle of trust (and who you should definitely keep out) can take a bit of work. Our courses can help you make those first steps to get you back on track.

Our heartfelt congratulations to HM The Queen on her Platinum Jubilee. To us, this picture sums up how much the team at Warrior Equine owe to Her Majesty.

It was painted by our Ambassador Roch. It marks the very special occasion when The Queen invited members of the team and a number of veterans to Windsor Castle, to demonstrate how we use horses to help support those struggling with PTSD. She even allowed us the privilege of using her own horses!

Roch worked with a gorgeous Windsor Grey called Rui. He described the feeling as 'out of this world, which was the inspiration for the painting.

The original hangs at our HQ, inspiring us to keep going through any adversity. A copy was presented to Terry Pendry, The Queen's Stud Groom, and it proudly hangs in his office (originally Queen Victoria's office) at The Royal Mews, Windsor Castle as a reminder of that special day, and the power of horses to heal.

Three members of our team were subsequently honoured to receive personal certificates from The Queen, recognising their 'extraordinary efforts to assist veterans and first responders with post-traumatic stress'.

Her Majesty has kindly continued to take an interest in our work, receiving regular updates on our courses and attendees' positive changes and progress.

Thank you Your Majesty for everything you do, and especially for your care and deep pride in your Armed Forces community.

BIG NEWS! Doing the final horse checks in Devon tonight for our veterans course next week seems the perfect opportunity to share our exciting news! 🥁🥁🥁📣

We're delighted to announce our new partnership with Fitzworthy Equestrian Centre, to be the official 'home' for Warrior Equine courses.

We will still continue to visit other locations, new and old, across the UK to maintain our geographical flexibility. But Fitzworthy will be the main base for courses and our flagship location.

We've worked with the team at Fitzworthy for several years now and our shared values and vision to support those who serve is absolutely aligned. Thank you Kim, Kate and all the Fitz crew for everything you do ❤

Looking forward to this new exciting chapter, supporting the Armed Forces community and emergency responders, who give so much in service of their country. It's our way of giving back, our way of saying thank you for your service. And we're humbled to be lucky enough to work with you all ❤👊

Reflecting on another fantastic experience through at RAC Saddle Club - pictured here the lovely chaps who help make it all happen. What a difference this course makes to the service men and women who attend. They arrive nursing injuries they won’t let the world see and spend three days learning from the horses that it’s ok to trust themselves. Guys, you know who you are and you are all bloody fabulous. It’s a privilege to know you - thank you for turning up and being legends 🐎💕🌟💪🏼

If we had our way, it would be everyday! Although to be fair, hugging a human, dog, cat or other (willing) being is pretty great too.

The feel-good hormone oxytocin is produced by the hypothalmus and released by the pituitary gland when we are physically affectionate. It produces what some describe as 'warm fuzzies' - feelings of connection and trust.

It can also help reduce anxiety by lowering blood pressure and slowing your heart rate, improving both mental and physical wellbeing. What's not to love?

We think that's worth the price of a slightly hairy jumper and the occasional bit of horse dribble!

Anxiety spikes, triggers and edgy hypervigilance caused by trauma can leave sufferers feeling as if they are spinning out of control.

We use horses to teach how to better manage emotions and positive responses, instilling confidence by taking back control of our reactions.

Royal recognition for the SMART saddle range:

The Solution Saddles team, manufacturers of the SMART saddle range of fully flexible, patented sports saddles, were in great company as they celebrated the formal presentation of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation. The official presentation was made by the Queen’s representative Mrs. Elizabeth Fothergill CBE, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire, at the Van D**e Hotel on Thursday 25th November. Representatives from a wide range of stakeholders within the UK equestrian industry, including manufacturers, saddle fitters, trade suppliers and riders, joined together with local dignitaries to mark the occasion, which was a remarkable milestone for Great British saddlery design.

The SMART saddle is the only saddle design to have ever been honoured with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise and one of only ten recipients within Derbyshire in the last ten years. The sense of achievement was clearly felt throughout the room as HM Lord-Lieutenant presented the Royal Grant of Appointment to SMART Saddle designer, Dr Anne Bondi.

Accepting the award, Dr. Bondi said ‘’When my husband and I founded the company in 2006, we had no idea how many good friends we would make along the way. But, of course, innovators are not always universally welcomed. Innovation means change, and that is not always a comfortable place for a largely traditional and often rather conservative equine industry.’’ Dr. Bondi continued by extending her thanks to everyone present, noting that “you were confident enough in your own successful businesses to see that there was room for us to have our place in the industry too”. She ended by thanking everyone for joining the celebration of Great British design and manufacturing, saying, “It is a privilege to have your support”.

Managing Director, Charlotte Berridge, concluded: ‘’We have been overwhelmed by the positive response from the industry and we will continue to grow the success of the SMART saddle range, both in the UK and internationally.’’
