A big welcome to beautiful Nola😍 the picture on the left was taken on her first walk with us mid January and the second picture was taken just this week! She is already growing so much and is enjoying meeting our other lovely dogs. She's almost ready to join the hour group walks where we know she will fit in perfectly ❤️

Few tips for bonefire night!

1. Try and avoid having your dog outside between the hours of 6pm and 10pm. If you need to feed your dog earlier than usual so they can have the chance to toilet before it goes dark.

2. If you need to take your dog outside in the dark, keep them on a short lead connected properly.

3. Try to use a single room in the house to help contain the dog (a dog running from room to room will cause more stress), if your dog is crate trained use your crate. Close all the blinds/curtains, turn on all the lights, turn radio/TV up a few more levels than you usually would.

4. If you hear fire works do not acknowledge anything is going on. If you start stressing your dog will start stressing. Also if your dog does look concerned as hard as it might be avoid trying to comfort them, you are far better to distract them or have them do some training exercises. Send them to their bed/place and reward etc, fetch, sits and downs etc to have your dog engage with you rather than worry about the noises.

5. Bonfire night can work to your advantage as a form of environmental training, desensitisation to bangs and flashes will make your dog more well rounded and also less likely to panic if you encounter any of these out on walks etc, away for bonfire night.

Paws and Boots...

Paws and Boots Dog Walking and Pet Services was set up almost a year ago by Erin and Sam. Both have several years’ experience working with a wide range of animals from rhinos and meerkats to otters and miniature monkeys. Their love of animals has always been apparent, and after working in several environments with dogs, from kennels to rescue centres, they decided it was time to start up something of their own that they loved.

Since starting their business, Erin and Sam have completed their Canine First Aid Level 2 (VTQ), have gained a qualification in Canine Psychology and are currently working through a qualification in Canine Nutrition. They continue to expand their knowledge to ensure that all of the dogs they look after receive THE best care possible, and they pride themselves in caring for each animal as if it were their own.

So if you’re looking for someone to take care of your beloved pet, look no further. Paws and Boots offer a wide range of services to best suit both owner and pet needs.
