• outdoor essentials (recall, lead walking – from your front door)
• politeness (drop/give, leave it)
• fun and games – ways to tire out a crazy puppy!
• Q&A – invaluable time for all the questions you have

If you are interested in a puppy home visit, please drop me a message and I'll send you more details.

The importance of the ‘thinking gap’… 🤔

When you are teaching a dog a new skill and have progressed through the luring and hand signal stages to the naming bit, it’s really vital after the first few reps to give your dog the opportunity to show you if they’ve made the connection between the word and the action yet, in what I call the thinking gap.

A few seconds is what we’d normally suggest but with Seren I could see the cogs still going around and she has been close to doing the verbal all weekend so I thought I’d give it a bit longer. 30 seconds later and BINGO!

In the second video (and the next attempt just a few seconds later) that thinking time was down to about 10 seconds and by clip three it was almost instant. That was 3 consecutive attempts and I stopped at this point to let the ‘good one’ sink in. Don’t wanna overdo it and end on a rubbish attempt.

Have you explored the thinking gap?

If you enjoy taking your dog to a secure field for some worry, free exercise, then you might be excited to hear that there’s a new field opening this week! 😁🐕

Designed by a very experienced dog trainer, it is set up for everything your dog needs for a fun and safe time off lead if they have a poor recall, or get too distracted by the outside environment. There are lots of activities to do and plenty of space to run around and a shelter so you can get out the rain!

You can also book sessions with the dog trainer if you want to do some more focused activities there.

Places are booking up quickly, so grab yours now and enjoy this new field!

A bit of fun, but there is a lot of truth in this…

BEFORE YOU BUY A PUPPY PLEASE TAKE THIS TEST!!
Best taken in the autumn or mid winter.
1. Buy a lead and tie it to a big stone, carry it to the park and put it next to a lamppost. Wait 20 mins then carry it home.
2. Get up at 5am, go out in the pouring rain and walk up and down a muddy path, repeating good girl/boy, wee wees...poo poos, quickly please.
3. Stuff your pockets with plastic bags and pick up all the poo you can find, obviously not your dogs as you have not bought it yet
4. Start wearing your shoes indoors, especially during muddy times
5. Collect leaves off the ground and spread them on the floor
6. Carry sticks and branches indoors and chop them up on your carpet
7. Pour cold apple juice on the rug and floor....walk barefooted over it in the dark
8. Drop some chocolate pudding on your carpet in the morning and then try to clean it in the evening
9. Wear socks to which you have made holes using a blender
10. Jump out of your favourite chair just before the movie ends and run to open back door
11. Cover all your best clothes with dog hair, dark clothes with blond hairs and light clothes with dark hairs
12. Tip all just ironed clothes on the floor and sprinkle liberally with slime
13. Make little pin holes in all your furniture,
especially chair and table legs
14. When doing dishes, splash water all over the place and don't wipe it.
15. Spread toilet paper all over the house when you leave the house and tidy up when you get back home
16. Forget any impulse holidays and/or breaks
17. Always go home straight after work or school
18. Go walkies no matter what the weather, and inspect every dirty paper, chewing gum and dead fly you might find
19. Wake up at 3am. Place a correct size bag of flour on top of yourself and try to sleep, whilst wiping your face with a dishcloth, which you have left next your bed in a bowl last week.

If you can do these for 6 months then CONGRATULATIONS, you might be ready to get your puppy!

For everyone who was asking about our holiday cottage... HERE IT IS!!

We can sleep up to 4 adults (sorry, no kids!) and allow unlimited dogs (provided you can manage them, you can bring 'em!). There is a private, secure garden with with 4ft fencing, away from our dogs, and you have access to a large field to give your dogs a good run in the morning and early evening.

If you are looking to book for next year and the dates aren't available, then please PM me and we can look to open the diary for you as we haven't released all the dates yet.

Hope you like it!! Please give it a like if you do for more events and updates. You can book training sessions with me while you're here too!

Fancy a few nights away before Christmas to enjoy the cosy early nights in front of a log burner?

We've just reduced the prices of the available spaces before Christmas to just £75 per night, so you can do some shopping in the wonderful stores around Lampeter and Aberaeron, enjoy a walk along the coast with your dog (just 25 mins away), walk the Brecons or just chill out in front of the fire, without breaking the bank.

We were back in Swindon this weekend for Les’ black belt grading in kickboxing. Of course she smashed it and was awarded her 1st Dan belt for all her hard work.

Congratulations Les, so proud of you!

Today was a special day at our gym as Lesley traveled all the way from Wales to grade with us this weekend. Normally, we take a few weeks to mark results before awarding black belts, but Lesley's dedication and journey couldn't wait. Congratulations, Lesley, on your well-deserved achievement! 🌟

To all our clients for both dog walking and training over the past 6 years, we want to say a massive THANK YOU!! We've now finished all our walks and training in Swindon, and move to Wales on Friday!

We have truly loved working with every single one of your dogs, and we are going to miss them terribly. We've had a good blub or two this week as we've said goodbye to each member of our extended furry family, and we thank you wholeheartedly for your trust in us and and allowing us to care for and train your doglets.

We'll still be offering training albeit a little further away but you are very welcome to come and visit our pretty holiday cottage and enjoy some training while you're with us if you fancy it!

We'll share the details as soon as we are in, but for now we're just so grateful for all your kind words and best wishes for our next adventure. Thank you, and we'll miss you!! 🙏👋😢

Help your dog be their best, naturally

As pet parents, we try to do the very best by our dogs, but our actions are driven by what WE think they need, not what they actually think.

My passion is to listen to your dog’s needs, and offer them freedom of choice in their care, helping them express their changing needs to you, their guardians. I love to educate and empower pet parents to support their dogs naturally, helping them achieve a happy state of physical and emotional balance.

What would your dog ask for help with?

If you’d like to know you can message me and we’ll find out together.
