📣 Announcement time 📣

I have officially taken Tails of Change from part time to full time!

This means I can also add training walks to my services 🦮

Wouldn’t it be great if your dog could get the exercise they need and also work on lead manners or recall?

If you’re interested in this new service, pop me a message and we can discuss the details 🐶

It’s well and truly firework season 🎆

We have to keep Hunter occupied with as many tennis balls as we can find🎾

I’d love to know how your dogs feel about fireworks!

Do you have any special treats or ways to manage their anxiety?

𝙒𝙚’𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠!

It’s been a while, but I’ve finally had the sign off from my surgeon and physio to get back to what I love most, working with your dogs 💕

A lot has happened in the last few months! Alongside recovery from my surgery, I got engaged 💍, we visited a wolf and bear sanctuary in Canada and we are in the process of moving!

There have been lots of very short walks trying to build myself back up to a level where I can keep up with Hunter! He has been so caring during my recovery and always right by my side making sure I’m ok 😍

I can’t wait to get back to working with your dogs so keep your eyes out for a limited time offer on sessions 👀

As much as I don’t want to, I’m having to take some time off from tomorrow, 17th July 😬

🩼 I’m having a operation on my hip and will be on crutches for 6 weeks which makes it incredibly difficult to work with your dogs

I will still be at the end of the phone if you are having trouble and I will schedule some topical posts, if there’s anything in particular that you want to see let me know! 🥰

I can’t wait to get back to working with your dogs again, I’ll see you soon 🐾

Does your dog check in with you on walks? 👀

This is one of the first things I teach when working on lead manners!

If your dog is checking in with you, they are focussed on you and not the 1000 other distractions around them 🐶

If your walks look more like you are being dragged around by your dog, get in touch to see how we can work together 🐾

Loved our walks this weekend!

Even on the gloomy days a walk with a well behaved dog is bliss 🤩

If you struggle with your dog on walks, I’m here to help!

There’s still time to get your dog’s behaviour under control before the summer! ☀️

It’s prime time to prepare your dog for spending time with you outside. 🌾

It doesn’t matter whether you want to sit in a beer garden and enjoy the sun, or if you want to make the most of the weather by taking nice long walks.

Some basic training and practising now can help to no end.

I’m getting booked up quickly, so pop me a message now to avoid missing out.🐾

I’ve kept quiet about this for a long time, but sometimes these things need to be said.

All dogs should be allowed on sofas…and anywhere they damn well please!😆

Ok, maybe not exactly anywhere. We don’t want them on the kitchen counters or the dining room table.

But apart from on walks, many of our dogs spend most of their day inside our homes. Let’s not make their world smaller by forbidding them to enjoy our space fully. 💕

If you’re worried about mess, just put a throw over your furniture to make clean up easier. 🤷‍♀️

Nothing beats snuggling up next to a happily snoozing pup.

Give me a ❤️ if you agree.

We’ve had a great weekend exploring the Lake District with family! 🥰

Hunter always does so well travelling long distances in the car and being in an unfamiliar place. We still make sure we have a few important items to make sure he feels happy and comfortable.

This is our list of must haves:
🐾 Hunter’s bed

🐾 Favourite toys from home

🐾 A few new toys (tennis balls are Hunter’s favourite!)

🐾 Hunter’s regular food

🐾 Exciting treats & long lasting chews

We also make sure we stay nice and calm as our energy always rubs off on our dogs!

Every year I make a commitment to do something different with my dog 🐶

It’s usually something fun we can do together, and this year is no different ✨

Hunter and I are getting back into scent work!

We did a little when he was a young pup and I loved seeing him do a little job, even if it was just finding a tiny bit of red Kong!

A dog’s nose is so much stronger than ours, they can smell the equivalent of a teaspoon of sugar in an olympic size swimming pool! I don’t know about you but I can’t even picture that!🤯

Are you committing to doing anything new or going back to an old activity with your dog?

🙌 Here’s my quick top tip to keep your dog calm around the home. 🙌

You know those moments when you’re busy or just trying to relax and your dog has other ideas? Suddenly they’re zooming around your living room or getting into things they shouldn’t…

Well, it’s time to embrace games! 🤩

All you need to do is take 10 minutes to enjoy a little challenging fun with your dog. Some ideas are:

✨ Play hide and seek

✨ Hide treats around your home for them to find

✨ Spread treats over a towel, roll it and tie it up

Get your dog to work their brain and nose for a moment and they’ll soon be chilling at your feet again.

🤔 You’ve gotta love a personal motto. Do you have one? 🤔

One of my favourites is ‘The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer someone else up,’ by Mark Twain.

I don’t know about you, but on those days when my energy is low, I always feel lifted when I’m helping others. And especially when I’m doing the work I love, helping dogs and their people. 🥰

So what’s a motto or mantra that you love and live by? Let us know in the comments below.👇

🙈 People ask me this all the time: How do I stop my dog jumping up on other people? 🙈

Well, these simple tips should help you out!

🐾 Don’t reward your dog for jumping up

🐾 Stay calm and quiet. Reward only when all four paws are back on the floor.

🐾 Turn you back on your dog if they try to jump at you

🐾 Pop your dog on a lead so you can control the situation and prevent any jumping

🐾 Ask other people to do the same (this one can be the most difficult!)

Jumping up is a common problem, but you and your pup can overcome it with a little patience and persistence.

Hope these tips help! Do let us know how you get on in the comments below. 🙌

And if you’d love some help with this, feel free to reach out by sending us a DM.

I’m doing a little research for our business and would love your insights.

For those of you that need a little help with your dog’s behaviour, what are the biggest obstacles stopping you from reaching out for help? 🐶

Here are 3 things I’d love to change about society… 👀

The lack of commitment many show towards pets. Far too many people impulsively bring pets into their home without considering the reality of the responsibility they’re taking on. Circumstances change and they give them up all too easily. Rescue centres are now overrun for this very reason. 😔

The way people underestimate how much dogs (and other animals) can help with mental health. Having a companion who doesn’t judge and loves you unconditionally can really help lift people’s mood. ☺️

The lack of consideration around pet loss. Our pets very quickly become members of our families and losing them can be just as painful as losing another member of the family. 😥

What are your thoughts? What would you change about society? Let me know in the comments below 👇🏻

The people we work with on our training sessions are:

😩Those who struggle to cope with their dog’s barking and lunging when out on walks.

😩Those who feel trapped in their homes because of their dog’s separation anxiety

😩Puppy parents who don’t know where to start

😩Expecting families who don’t know how their dog will react to a new baby

😩People who have rescued a dog and need help with their unique needs

If you’ve recognised yourself in that list, we can help.

Our training sessions are designed to take you from being a stressed out dog owner who is embarrassed by their dog’s behaviour to a calm, happy dog owner who is proud to take their dog anywhere ✨

🤩 We love looking ahead and planning for the future of Tails of Change 🤩

We have big ambitions and we’re excited about where we’re taking things!

So we thought you might like to get a glimpse of where we see ourselves in 5 years time. 🙌

We’re working towards owning our own field with a building so we can use it for our training classes. We want to bring new trainers on board so we can serve many more pet parents and dogs, and we want to have a suite of online courses so our customers can train their dogs at home.

What do you think about our plans for the future? 💖
