So true …

Feed a nutritious, fresh, varied, species appropriate diet to your pet to keep them in optimum health and vitality.

Avoid unnecessary chemical parasite treatments and titre test instead of over vaccinating and the your vet bills will be lower than than the recent scaremongering news article... that's super low! 😉😉

Safety is always paramount!

Safety is always paramount!

Our knowledge of crash tests and road traffic accidents tells us that most of the time, for almost all accidents, at least one of the vehicles is subjected to a frontal collision.
Frontal collision can mean a very fast stop. A loose dog keeps traveling forward and stops violently against what is in front of it. If placed in the cargo compartment, it can travel over the seat back and further into the car. If it sits in the back seat it can indeed travel through the front window and further into the object that you are crashing into. It is important to make sure that the dog can not travel on without restrictions.
Don't subject your dog and your family to this - invest in their safety.

HOW MUCH FOR A PUPPY?

Let me say a few words to you, yes you, the person who writes an email to simply ask the price. The person who calls and after hearing a price surprisedly states: “I can buy a cheaper pup elsewhere”. I also address you; the person who doesn’t care about papers because I want “just a pet”.

No dog is “just a pet”.

Behind every pure bred puppy/dog is a BREEDER. I’m using capital letters to differentiate a breeder from a pet factory or mill. A reputable breeder does not breed dogs without papers, that does not protect the integrity of the breed. Registration (papers) are records of lineage that document bloodline and allow one to research any possible health issues present in the lineage. When you tell a Breeder you don’t care about papers what you’re really telling them is you couldn’t care less about the health of the puppy you just want the cheapest thing you can find! When you select to buy a puppy from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for the health of every pup ; both dogs owned and every pup they’ve sold for its lifetime. This breeder will skip holidays, miss sleeping, and most of their personal house space has been turned into space for their dogs . The truly passionate breeder who loves what they breed, puts their whole heart and soul into it. Not only in puppies that are sold, but also in each client who owns a piece of their heart and now is a member of their extended family. This does not take into account any puppy/dog who might get sick or need extra help to thrive. Breeders worry about their babies after they leave and will take one back without question.

A breeder will get their hands dirty, often covered in everything accompanied with birthing. Because that’s what life is about...In the middle of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps turning. A breeder will do tests, echos, xrays, analysis, emergency c sections, vaccinations, register litters, research pedigrees, deworm, as well as microchip their puppies and get them evaluated by specialists.

Last but by no means least, a breeder CHOOSES the family lucky enough to have one of their puppies. Yes, you read that right. A true breeder chooses who they sell to because they are not making money off the sale. There is no compensation that can offset the investment a Breeder has made so they need to be confident its the right fit. Many times saying more no’s then yes...A good Breeder will have different criteria for those wanting to carry on their bloodline, why? Because breeding is not a responsibility to ever be taken lightly, it’s a lifestyle choice set aside for ONLY the few devoted people willing to sacrifice.

Because a dog is never “just a pet” it’s the Breeder’s legacy, a little boy’s best friend, a little girls protector, an elderly persons therapy, a member of the family, someone’s whole world!!!

SO JUST HOW LONG DO YOUR PET’S SHOTS LAST?

Definitely longer than a year!

According to the top pet immunologist (aka vaccine expert) in the world, Dr. Ronald Schultz, Ph.D. – “ Annual revaccination provides no benefit and may increase the risk for adverse reactions.”

What the heck are adverse reactions (or side effects)?

Well according to the other rock star pet immunologist Dr. Jean Dodds:

“Side effects from dog vaccinations can occur anywhere from instantly up to several weeks or months later. Vaccines can even cause susceptibility to chronic diseases that appear much later in a dog’s life (Dodd, 2001).

Severe and fatal adverse reactions include:

•Susceptibility to infections.

•Neurological disorders and encephalitis.

•Aberrant behavior, including unprovoked aggression.

•Vaccines are linked to seizures. Distemper, parvovirus, rabies and, presumably, other vaccines have been linked with poly neuropathy, a nerve disease that involves inflammation of several nerves. (Dodds,2001)”

While both breeds share short coats, wedge heads and similar body types, the biggest thing they have in common is their last name "Pinscher."

Sound advice!

As veterinary surgeries reopen after lockdown, you may find if your dog has missed a vaccination booster, that they say that the whole course of 3 should be restarted. Please be aware that it states in each vaccine guideline information sheet from the companies that produce the vaccines, that this is not needed. A single booster is sufficient, but you can also have a blood test called a titre test done instead to check your dogs circulating levels of immunity and even a booster may not be needed. Some also choose to use homeopathic nosode remedies instead.
If you vaccinate your dogs you should know that after the 12mth booster, the guidance is that boosters are given no more frequently than at least 3 years apart until the dog is 7, and then should not be needed ever again - unfortunately these guidelines are not enforced and some still try to give yearly boosters, increasing the risk of illnesses being caused by the toxins in vaccines. This has been the recommendation for vets to follow since 2011 from WASAVA -World Small Animal Veterinary Association.

Kennel Fourfitz - German Pinschers

This page is dedicated to a very special dog, Bentley our Dobermann.

Fourfitz was created in his memory.

Sadly, he never got to meet our German Pinschers, he was without doubt the love of our lives, we lost him to cancer in early 2014. He was regal, loyal and a larger than life personality in every way. Run pain free “Mr Magnificent”.
