🥰 A career highlight 🐧

I was lucky enough to do some further training on osteopathy techniques on zoo animals a few weeks ago at the lovely Chessington World of Adventures.

This 9 week old penguin 'Squeak' was in need of some mobilisation and of course we were happy to help!

Penguins, giraffes, ostriches and 150kg tortoises to name a few - hoping to do more work in this field soon! 😁

📣 Clients please read 👀

I'm afraid I have to jump on the bandwagon. I've put it off for as long as possible but with the rise in living costs, it's inevitable.

From 1st of October 2022 prices will increase by £5 per session in all regions. I will also have to be stricter on the charge of the additional £15 I charge on top of the standard price when further skeletal manipulation is needed. I'm sure you can appreciate that I have spent thousands in training to provide the best possible service for your animals and this requires more expertise and experience than usual. However, the standard price still allows it to be more accessible and affordable to a wider range of clients.

As always, if anyone is in a position where they are struggling, I can make concessions at my discretion. Please make sure you tell me, I am human and I appreciate your business and love helping your animals.

Even with this increase, I remain competitively priced and offer a very wide service including physiotherapeutics, electrotherapies, chiropractic, and osteopathic techniques. Whilst also working alongside vets and the wider multi-disciplinary team to provide rehabilitation plans all at no extra cost.

I feel the need to justify this decision as I know many are overwhelmed with finances at the moment, which is why I personally need to ensure the business remains viable.

Thank you for your understanding, and on a lighter note, I have some interesting things coming shortly.

As always, none of this would be possible without you all, and that is always my priority.

Ally ❤

Atrophy (muscle wastage in red) of the pectoralis major and hypertrophy (muscle enlargement in purple) of the extensor carpi radialis. 🧐

In this case due to damage within the tricep, brachial plexus and cervical spine causing neuropathy, abnormal gait and weight bearing.

So far we have managed to significantly improve the neuropathy with a decrease in workload and rehabilitative exercises. The newest exercise prescription includes passive limb loading, pole work, and hind end strengthening. This is an experimental case to establish whether increase in any form of exercise results in the recurrence of the neuropathy or whether the tailored rehabilitation will allow for a lighter workload for mobility purposes or if retirement and long term pain management is inevitable.

I love being able to provide the power of three combination:

💪Physiotherapeutics
💪Chiropractic
💪Osteopathy

Pelvic tilt maintenance during gastric ulcer treatment. Unfortunately during discomfort through the fore/hindgut, the body's tensegrity becomes impaired and compensation takes place. The horse in the images was dropping the left hip resulting in a pelvic rotation due to the avoidance of pressure through the hindgut which is largely located in the right side of the abdomen.

This will reoccur until the internal or primary ailment has been successfully treated, but comfort can be maintained throughout with permission by the attending veterinarian followed by a tailored rehabilitation plan for effective re-introduction to work.

A mixture of the above modalities are utilised in order to perform a 'holistic' treatment consisting of the soft tissue, skeletal, and visceral systems for maximum benefit.

10 horses and 1 dog treated today 💪 finished off with a manual draining for this lovely girl with a hole in her palate which causes her congestion and heavier breathing in exercise. I have taught her owner how to do this inbetween sessions to improve her comfort 😊

📷 Posterior pelvic tilt with fascial impairments surrounding the flanks and iliopsoas.

Excessive jumping is one cause of this. This results in changes to the gait and angles of the tubercoxae as well as atrophy through the croupe and epaxials. Hypertonicity is also evident through the gluteals and semitendinosus with compensatory pressure through the sacroilliac and sacrocaudalis ligament. Eventually the region will become so weak, that hind end strength will reduce and performance respectively.

This horse has been treated by myself and will be followed up in 4 weeks following a prescribed rehabilitation plan I designed.

Running a business requires a lot of passion, stress and time. It's not often you get chance to just sit and be still. This afternoon whilst waiting for a client having finished the previous horse, I got one of those moments.

To have a large, unpredictable and potentially dangerous animal stand with you in peace, choose to come to you for affection, and fully relaxed is a feeling I will never tire of.

So rewarding ❤
