We loved filming a segment for Blue Peter at The Vets' Place recently with Shini, Bolu and, of course, Henry the Blue Peter dog.
Shini and Bolu demonstrated some of the ways vets review the health of pets and answered viewers' questions on pet care and becoming a vet. You can catch the episode tonight on CBBC at 5pm!
We've had a brilliant first day at our annual Graduate Congress!
Looking forward to tomorrow!

This time last week, we were in the middle of our Leaders' Forum for 2024. What an incredible opportunity to connect with the brilliant minds across our network and celebrate our Brilliant People with our annual awards.
An amazing two days of sharing knowledge, building on existing relationships and making new connections. We continue to innovate, collaborate, and bring people together to deliver world-class veterinary care, locally.

Luyanda Tebele, of The Neighbourhood Vet, was featured in our video celebrating our amazing Registered Veterinary Nurses for Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month this month. She has been working in the industry for 7 years with the majority of her career in South Africa. She says that, for her, progression means stepping out of her comfort zone, facing new challenges and growing as a vet nurse,
“It gives me joy working with patients on a daily basis and I hope to specialise in anaesthesia in the future.”
What does progression mean to you? Share your comments with us below.

May is Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month and we are kicking it off by highlighting the impressive array of jobs performed by Registered Veterinary Nurses in our practices.
From taking consultations and monitoring anaesthesia to running diagnostic tests and organising practice teams, they are vet nurses, of course they can! Now it's your turn to help us spread the word by sharing this video!

We are celebrating Earth Day today by showcasing some of the fab work our Positive Pawprint Partners have undertaken in their practices as part of our Positive Pawprint Strategy.
These practices are just some of our Positive Pawprint Partners. The Positive Pawprint strategy guides our practices on the steps they can take to improve sustainability, including cutting energy use, reducing waste and promoting local biodiversity.

Today is International Women's Day. Our industry is full of inspirational women, so we asked our colleagues to nominate colleagues who inspire them to be the best they can be. And they didn't disappoint!
These women hold down full-on jobs in the veterinary industry, pushing the boundaries of veterinary care for the benefit of our clients and the pets. All while juggling families, pets, friends, hobbies and full lives. They care passionately, they dare fearlessly and they share selflessly. And our lives are all the more richer with these women in them.
We'll be spotlighting a few of these women over the coming weeks. Watch this space!

You may have seen our post last week about one of our support teams trekking from coast to coast to raise funds for StreetVet.
They've been sending us photos along the way and we thought we'd share them along with some momentous news. They have smashed through the midway point, and raised a massive £1000 so far! We're sure you'll be cheering them along with us.
Come on team! You've got this!

During 2023, our Care Fund has been used a record 2,276 times!
Every vet within our network has access to an annual allowance to use where a pet needs a life-saving treatment, but the owner has exhausted their means of paying for it.
And the decision has been made to increase the fund for each vet by 25%. And the fund is flexible. It can be used on one pet, split across multiple cases, or pooled for one case. Just like Frances Cummins and Jessica Stirling of Highfield Veterinary Centre did for Allen the cat. Due to the life-saving contribution from the Care Fund, Frances and Jessica were able to perform the surgery he needed to return home and live a normal, happy life.
Frances said,
“Using the care fund in this case was so fulfilling for us as a practice, as we could save Allen’s life, and the clients were so grateful, including their 2 daughters who drew us thank you pictures that are now up in our staff room. Without the care fund, Allen would no longer be here, and the clients would have lost their much-loved pet.”

Congratulations to our charity partners, StreetVet, on their conference this week. StreetVet was chosen by our colleagues earlier this year as the charity they wanted to support. As sponsors of the event, our team was able to attend and hear the stories of the wonderful vet and veterinary nurse volunteers who change the lives of the pets of people experiencing homelessness, as well as inspiring speakers on a range of topics.
The event was also the preview of StreetVet's 2024 calendar, which has been sponsored by IVC Evidensia, and we will be retailing online. Watch out for further details on how to buy your calendar soon.

We recently awarded a further 50 of our practices with British Bee Veterinary Association membership to ensure they have the resources they need to support local bee populations and spread awareness to clients and throughout their local area.
Our partnership with the British Bee Veterinary Association is part of our commitment to promoting and protecting biodiversity under our Positive Pawprint strategy for a sustainable future within animal care.
Join Edward Davies, Practice Director and GP Vet Programme Lead at IVC Evidensia, to hear more about the partnership.

As we come towards the end of Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, we wanted to take the opportunity to share our video again, which highlights some of the varied roles our Vet Nurses can take on throughout their careers. From Clinical Managers to Farm Techs, Referral Nurses to Mental Health First Aiders, whichever path they choose, they are always a Vet Nurse.
