💉💉 Just a reminder if you are expecting a foal in 2026 🐎

We generally recommend that Equine Herpes Virus (EHV) vaccinations are given at 5,7 & 9 months of pregnancy to prevent abortions 🥲

EHV lives silently within horses and is also responsible for respiratory signs 🦠😷

Better to protect & prevent than go through the heart break 💔

Clipping can be a great way to help keep your horse’s skin healthy and also help manage body condition ⚖️

If your horse or pony is not a fan of the clippers, feel free to give us a call for some behaviour advice or it may be that some sedation could help 📞💉

If anyone is keen to get a group together for a sedation visit just let us know and we would be more than happy to help 🤗🩺

🙌 We are excited to be hosting another meeting to discuss all things winter health 🩺 respiratory, skin, colic etc and will be joined by Katie from Dengie Horse Feeds who will be presenting on optimising winter nutrition 🐎🐎🐎

Places are limited and will be offered to clients on a first come first served basis 📝

We 🩶 a success story 🐎🐎🐎

Melanomas are often an inevitable part of owning a grey horse 🥲😩

When Grey’s owner contacted us about the small lesions around his back end we put together a plan to have them removed with surgical laser💥
Unfortunately once he was sedated, more lesions were present than we initially thought and he had to undergo quite extensive tissue resection 🏥

Just over 4 weeks after his surgery he is back in action, having completing his first graded 65km Endurance race this weekend 🩶🐎👏

🦠🦠 Strangles - the disease every horse owner dreads 🥲

The Equine Infectious Disease Surveillance (EIDS) network, which monitors cases of strangles in the UK has reported a significant rise in cases in 2025 compared to previous years. 📍

😷We are not aware of any active cases within mid Cornwall but the increased risk is a prompt reminder that we need to stay vigilant to keep our equines safe 🙏

🟢 now is the time to strengthen biosecurity and hygiene on yards

🟢 promptly report suspect cases and have them tested

🟢implement proper quarantine for new equines

🟢consider vaccination - we have managed to secure 2nd doses free of charge from the makers of Strangvac for all first doses administered before the end of November 2025.

📢Let’s break the taboo surrounding strangles and start talking 📢

By working together as a community we can hopefully minimise the number of cases in Cornwall and save everyone heart ache and stress. 🐴💔
