⭐The Underheugh Arc⭐

LAST DAY OF VOTING 😀 Last but by no means least, we are looking at the wonderful Underheugh Ark.

The Underheugh Ark is a small animal charity based on the west coast of Scotland. The Underheugh Ark was set up by Stef and Calum and their farm gives the rescue its distinctive name.
Over the years the rescue grew and grew and gained charity status in January 2016.
The rescue helps many different kinds of animals with their main focus being dogs, cats and hens but have wide variety of animals with us such as rabbits, hamsters, guineapigs, horses, pigs, terrapins, budgies, cockatiles and turkeys!

⭐Springer Rescue for Scotland⭐

Today we are looking at the charity Springer Rescue for Scotland.
Springer Rescue for Scotland is a Scottish based breed specific rescue organisation, with the stated aims that every Spaniel in Scotland should have the chance of a happy, fulfilled life in an appropriate home, and that every person or family that owns a Spaniel should find this to be a positive experience, and one that enhances their quality of life. Springer Rescue for Scotland will facilitate the rehoming and rescuing of Spaniels by putting in place and maintaining a network of volunteers and administrative process.

SRS was set up in late 2008, by a number of people interested in Spaniel welfare and rehoming, who felt that there was a need for a Scotland based rescue organisation.
They received Charitable Status in 2009, they rehomed their first Springer in December 2008, and rehomed dog number 1000 in January 2019, just a month after their 10th anniversary celebrations.

⭐Perthshire Gunndog Rescue⭐

Today we are highlighting the work that Carol and Perthshire Gundog Rescue do.
The rescue is commited to the welfare of all dogs that come into their care and endeavour to make a positive contribution to their lives, no matter what their circumstances. They aim to educate people about Gundog Breeds prior to taking them on and are often called to discuss people's suitablilty in owning one of these intelligent working bred dogs.

PGR works with and rehomes rescue dogs according to their individual needs. This could be a pet working bred dog going on to become an active working Gundog or a dog who has possible failed as a Gundog for whatever reason will be matched up and rehomed into a suitable active pet home. They also help retired Gundogs of all ages.
Carol works tirelessly to provide support for owners and dogs in their time of need, and puts the dogs best interest at the heart of everything she does.

⭐THE MAGGIE FLEMING ANIMAL HOSPICE & KARASS⭐

The Maggie Fleming Animal Hospice is run by the incredible Alexis! The following is written by her, and we think it explains the hospice perfectly.

"I started the hospice in memory of my best friend Maggie who died alone in hospital without me, even though I promised I'd see her again and that she would come home. I couldn't keep my promise to her, and on the day I went to say goodbye to her instead of bring her home I said the words 'The Maggie Fleming Animal Hospice'. I still don't know why or where the idea came from, but in her memory I promised that I'd try to be there for souls who hadn't known a lot of love or friendship in their lives, and make sure that they didn't die alone.

At the hospice and sanctuary we give responsible, compassionate life-long and end-of-life care to terminally-ill companion animals who have been abandoned in the final stages of their lives, and to farmed animals who would otherwise live and die in the food system. We believe in quality care that is comforting, kind, respectful, compassionate and dignified, and that freedom, love, and joy are essential to a life worth living, no matter how long we are here."

⭐LOVING HOMES DOG RESCUE⭐

Loving Homes Dog Rescue is dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of dogs. They are developing a network of fosterers and volunteers to enable them to increase the numbers of dogs saved.
They are an all breed Rescue and do not take only the "easy" to rehome dogs but also problem cases and those requiring rehabilitation including severe abuse cases and bait/fighting dogs. They welcome staffies and bull breeds, these are at present the dogs most in need of help.
Before rehoming, all of their dogs are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed, defleed and fully health checked.
All dogs have a lifetime full Rescue back up. Before being released to a new keeper, they carry out a home check and match the suitability of the dogs to the potential new homes.

⭐LABRADOR RETRIEVER RESCUE SCOTLAND⭐
There is an ever increasing number of Labradors who need homes. The Labrador Retriever is a loving, loyal dog who makes a wonderful pet. Many people purchase Labradors not realising their daily needs for exercise and human interaction. As an Organisation, they believe that match making each individual Labrador to the perfect owner is of the utmost importance.
The Rescues mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome Labrador retrievers and promote and advance responsible pet ownership. The Rescue also prevents rehoming by providing training and support to owners.
They are not judgemental and understand that families who have provided loving homes for their Labrador sometimes have to give them up through no fault of their own, and could never have predicted being in this situation.

Lorraine and her team of volunteers at Islay Dog-Rescue are passionate about animals and dedicated to helping dogs who have found themselves in dog pounds. Specifically, they Rescue dogs who are on "death row".

They have in place a fostering scheme which seeks to place the dogs they rescue into a safe, loving environment in which the Rescue can gain a better insight and assessment of the dog in order to properly find the right family which can offer the dog the best second chance.

Kennels can be a lonely and stressful experience for dogs, therefore for some, fostering is the best way forward.

Islay Dog Rescue could not survive without the loving dedication and support of their volunteers, foster families and sponsors who donate their time, homes and contributions to help the dogs they rescue.
