Useful to know
Following the inaccurate reporting in yesterday’s news that cats should be kept indoors as they can transmit or carry Coronavirus, we would like to reassure our clients that this is not the case.
Although there have been some rare and isolated reports of animals that have been infected by owners or handlers suffering from Covid-19, there is currently no evidence to say that animals and pets can transmit Covid-19 to humans.
Unless you or a member of your household has been diagnosed with coronavirus, you do not need to keep your cat indoors. Keeping a cat indoors that is used to roaming can cause unnecessary stress and have a negative impact on their mental and physical wellbeing.
Below is the full statement issued from the British Veterinary Association - BVA which details current guidelines for pet owners who have been diagnosed with COVID-19
We would like to take this opportunity to remind our clients that we are still open, so if you have any questions or concerns about your pet, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your local practice via Petsapp or on the phone, where our clinical teams will be delighted to help.
