Hey everyone 👋🏻
Unfortunately this will be my last update to this page as I have been forced to quit dog walking due to my health issues.
As a lot of you know, I have been struggling with joint/muscle pain and weakness since getting Covid in 2021.
Since then I have been treated unsuccessfully for a variety of things, and continue to be tested by a Rheumatologist.
As of last week, it is suspected that I have something called ME/CFS which has likely evolved from post-viral fatigue caused by Covid.
I am being referred to a specialist for ME/CFS, but unfortunately there is no cure or medicinal treatment for this disease. Instead, you are referred to talking therapy, and learn to “pace” so that you manage your energy throughout the day so not to go into PEM (post-exertions malaise)
Learning about ME/CFS the last few days, I have realised how much damage I have been doing to myself continuing to live my life at 150mph with the dogs. As you know, I walk on average 30 miles a day, and it’s time I listen to my body and stop.
This has been a huge emotional shock to me, and I’m still pretty much in denial over the fact that I now need to live my life at a much slower pace and I feel like I’m deserting all my dogs.
If you know me, you know not seeing them is going to be the hardest thing for me with all of this, and I’m trying to not think about how confused they’ll be by my sudden disappearance from their lives.
I can’t thank my clients enough for the kindness they’ve shown me throughout of all of this. And all my clients of the past who allowed me the honor of being their dog’s friend.
I will miss this job so so much. I’ll miss all the lovely people I spoke to in the commons, and meeting new dogs every single day. But mostly I will miss hanging out with my dogs.
I’ll shut up as I’m rambling. But I wanted to let everyone know what’s going on.
If you would like to stay in touch, and see where this new, slower paced chapter of my life takes me, please feel free to DM me and I’ll send you links to where you can find me. Alternatively I’ll put links to my FB in my story.
Thank you everyone, for everything 💜
(And f**k Covid!)
