Tips to go by to ensure you’re doing the walk right 🐕👏🏻
• First off- your dog is able to walk by your side! This doesn’t have to mean a fancy heel command (although we love seeing dogs walk to heel 🤓) this just means your dog is relaxed walking with you by your side!
• Your dog is able to look up to you for guidance and direction on the walk. Eye contact = engagement!
• Your dog is in tune with you and at your pace! If you slow down or stop your dog should be aware of you and slow down with you. Equally if you speed up your dog should be still be with you! Have fun with this 🐶 and reward your dogs for doing so! (Great if you go running with your dog!)
Ultimately your dog NEEDS to be under control when out walking with you. The lead should just there for added SAFETY. Believe it or not our dogs need a JOB. If you fail to provide your dog with structure or expectations through training .. your dog will train itself! This can be 🫣 for us as humans!
