Ahhhh, this little guy, such a pleasure to work with 😍His name is Archie and he is an adolescent West Highland White Terrier.
We have been working with Archie since he was a pup, and he really has come on in leaps and bounds. During our last session we were teaching him how to stay on the mat when there are distractions present, preparing him for outings to exciting places with his family. This little guy loves to learn!!
If you need some assistance with your dog, why not get in touch today to see how we can help you!

Check out those hypnotic eyes! This is Archie, a gorgeous 4 year old Labradoodle.
Archie is sadly reactive towards some dogs, and so has just started our 'Chaos to Calm' package. We are going to help Archie to feel more confident around dogs that he is not familiar with.
We already know that Archie is a foodie who learns really quickly, and with his guardian's dedication, we have high hopes for this lad!
Is your dog reactive around other dogs? Is so, why not get in touch today to find out how we can help you.

Did you know that today is the day to celebrate all of those dogs who wear yellow. It is also important that we raise awareness of why dogs wear yellow, to help owners using this colour with their dogs, and help people understand why, and know what to do.
Dogs tend to wear yellow (harnesses, leads, collars, jackets etc) to show people that they needs space.
But why would they need space you might ask? Well, the dog could be fearful of humans, and/or dogs. The dog may be reactive, whether through trauma, pain, fear, or something else.
As you can see, there are many reasons why a dog wears yellow, and in all honesty, we really don't need to know the exact why. We just need to know what we should do when encountering such a dog.
The best thing you can do is to respect their need for space and keep your distance, so that dog isn’t pushed beyond what it can happily manage whilst enjoying a walk.
Remember too that it is very likely that the guardian of the dog is working to help the dog become more comfortable, more 'socially acceptable', but that it takes time to change behaviour and rebuild a dogs confidence. One event can undo all their hard work, so please, for their sake, don't be that event! Give them the space they need!

Ahhh, who doesn't love a Red Fox Lab!
Meet Rusty, he is an adolescent fella, who tackles life with much gusto! He is living his best life, but sadly his method of greeting people is not compatible with the needs of his guardians. His enthusiasm is just too much for some.
Luckily Rusty is an avid foodie and we soon had him controlling his impulses and making better choices. Of course, this kind of behaviour is not fixed in the blink of an eye, as he has had months to practice the undesirable behaviour, and build up a habit. His guardians however now have the tools they need to keep up the great work, and the future looks bright, both for Rusty and the visitors!
If you are struggling with your dog, why not get in touch to see how we can help.

Love this from Shakepaws.com. So very true!

Check out this little lad! His name is Rolo and he is a Cairn Terrier.
Rolo is an excitable little lad, who had previously made it his mission to jump all over visitors. He also struggles to settle.
After a few sessions with us, I am now really pleased to report that little Rolo is mastering the art of impulse control, and is now making much better choices when people arrive! He is also learning to settle too, much to the relief of his guardians! Keep up the fabulous work Rolo!

Meet Ernie the gorgeous Show Cocker Spaniel.
We have been working on teaching him that wearing a muzzle can be fun! He has taken to this training like a duck to water, racing through the stages!
Muzzles are a useful preventative tool to keep dogs from engaging in dangerous behaviour with their mouths — and that doesn't mean just biting. Muzzles can be especially helpful for dogs who like to eat non-food items. Let's face it, dogs have a tendency to follow their nose, but occasionally that can lead them astray. Muzzles are also helpful to prepare for a veterinary emergency, to ensure a vet can provide the necessary care quickly and safely. If you feel your dog could benefit from wearing a muzzle, then why not get in touch with us today to find out how we can help.

This beautiful little lady can be bit of a jumper when she is excited, so her guardians booked a package with us to help her break the habit.
This little lady is super smart and a quick learner, so we are anticipating great things from her!

Check out sleepy Frida, the English Bull Terrier. I guess training sessions are exhausting!
Frida is an anxious dog, despite her build and size. When working with an anxious dog, it is super important to go at their pace, so not only do they feel comfortable, but they are more able to learn.
Once she realised we were her friends, it was a joy to see her relax and actively choose to be around us.

Meet handsome Charlie, a 2 year old Golden Retriever.
This gorgeous boy seemed perfect in every way, until faced with exciting distractions such as people and other dogs. His strength when bouncing about on the lead meant that his guardians were unable to take them to places that they knew he would enjoy.
After working with us, Charlie's engagement with his guardians is now on point, and impressive to see. He is easily able to ignore the things that caused the problems, and they are now able to enjoy him fully again. Well done Charlie!!

Poodles are so clever!! Here’s Binky practicing a paw target at class last night. He managed to master this within minutes!! We were shaping this trick, so Binky made all the choices. The upside of this is that it helps to build confidence. Trick practice is not just fun and incredibly rewarding, it also strengthens the bond between the dog and its guardian. #poodlesofinstagram #poodlesareclever #pawtarget #risingstars #positivereinforcementtraining #positivereinforcementdogtraining #kindnessispowerful #thepositivepup #positivereinforcement #sciencebasedtraining #buildingbonds #loveyourdog #trust #behaviour #causenotsymptom #forcefree
If you were wondering how Bonnie the German Shepherd from one of our previous posts is doing, then here’s a little peak! What a superstar ⭐️ she is. She has so much focus, less over excitement and unpredictability, and a real eagerness to learn. What a wonderful job her guardians have done to achieve such a turn around with her. A testament to the great results that hard work, commitment and understanding can achieve. # #positivereinforcementtraining #positivereinforcementdogtraining #kindnessispowerful #thepositivepup #positivereinforcement #sciencebasedtraining #buildingbonds #loveyourdog #trust #behaviour #forcefree #germanshepherdsofinstagram
Check out Bonnie doing her ‘March’, she has absolutely nailed it! This is a dog that initially struggled with containing her excitement and impulse control. 0 to 10 in a matter of seconds used to be her default! Children, who have a tendency to move fast and make lots of noise, understandably built her arousal levels. This she displayed in chasing and jumping, which often ended up in unintentional scratches to her much loved humans. Her guardians have done a huge amount of work with Bonnie and this is the amazing results! Equally impressive is the boy working with Bonnie in the video. Her behaviour previously made him nervous, but look at him now! He is taking an active part in her training and feeling the pride that comes with great achievement! Well done guys, you have made me so proud! #understandingyourbreed #impulsecontrol #germanshepherdsofinstagram #germanshepherd #positivereinforcementtraining #positivereinforcementdogtraining #kindnessispowerful #thepositivepup #positivereinforcement #sciencebasedtraining #buildingbonds #loveyourdog #trust #behaviour #forcefree
Check out this great loose lead walking practice with little potato at our Little Stars Puppy class. A great sit and walk around by Thor and Grace at the Chippenham Rally Class yesterday. Well done guys!
So this is Ruby a beautiful Vizsla from my Rising Stars class. She has learnt to unroll a towel and her guardians have combined this with a sit and a down. Looks like she’s beach ready to me, although she may have to travel to find the sun!! Well done Ruby, and well done Donna and Russell her guardians, for all their hard work!
