Santa and Santa's assistant bringing Brussell Sprout "trees" and apples to Holiday Hens ,some festive treats...as with us,some like sprouts,some don't! Suspicious at first,then stripping them to the stalks. Thanks go to Libby,local farmer.

New life with end of season hatching: broody Silkie with her 9 varied chicks,the natural easy way; and incubator last hatch,trickier when off heat with no broody to protect the grower chicks outside. Our resident Sparrowhawk has decided he's fedup of sparrows and munched one of my plump Buff Sussex chicks! Life is red in tooth and claw out here in the country!

Glastonbury for Hens kicks off this week! Summer holiday boarding filling up( late bookings don't delay). Music schedule: happy hens clucking (and my breed cockerels on the lineup crowing to impress the new arrivals...) No mud in sight, but wild and windy Scottish weather!
