What the moo is going on here?! 🐮

Recently Katie treated a different 4 legged friend here at AGVP.. after all we never have a dull day! 🤣

The farmers noticed an acute onset of lameness in the cow who was due to calf. They initially treated her with rest away from the herd but as there was no improvement in lameness after veterinary assessment, physiotherapy was advised.

Katie assessed and treated the cow manually targeting her shoulders and back. She implemented various management strategies including some gentle controlled walking. The farmers were pleased to report that there was a good improvement post treatment! 🐄✨👩🏻‍🌾

Kissing Spines also known as overriding or impinging dorsal spinous processes can be a cause of back pain in horses 💥

It is where the normal spaces between the spinous processes of the horse’s vertebral column are reduced causing them to press against or rub on each other.

Kissing Spines is often a cause of poor performance or gait abnormality in horse’s. It is always important to rule out other causes for concern, such as an ill fitting saddle, rider balance issues, etc.

Most horses diagnosed with kissing spines are able to return to ridden work after appropriate veterinary treatment and can be successful managed with ongoing physiotherapy treatment and a targeted rehabilitation programme 💪🏼✨

05/04/2024

Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy (TPLO) is a surgical procedure used to treat cranial cruciate ligament rupture in the knee joints (stifle) of dogs. The procedure involves changing the angle of the top of the shin bone by cutting the bone, rotating it and stabilising it in a new position with a plate and screws 🦴

Cranial cruciate ligament rupture is one of the most common causes of hind leg lameness in dogs 💥

Whilst the surgery has the ability to fix your dog’s lameness, the true recovery lies in the aftercare and rehabilitation that you as owners give your dog! If your dog is allowed to jump or run around during the recovery, more damage can occur which can require more extensive and complex surgery to fix. The better that you can manage your dog’s recovery, the better the long-term outcome will be 🐶💪🏼

It's show time! 🛁 🐩

It is a big week for many dog owners including for some of our canine clients. We wish you all the best of luck! 🍀

Did you know... in 2023, Crufts welcomed 155,000 attendees - and that is not including the dogs! 😱

If you have never experienced Cruft's before it is definitely worth the trip! Crufts is the greatest dog show in the world and takes place over 4 days at the NEC in Birmingham (only on the door step!). It can be a great day out for the family as there is plenty to see in the rings and in the shopping village! 🛍
