Ensuring a dog is well-rounded and well-behaved involves several key factors:

1. **Diet**: A balanced and nutritious diet is essential for a dog’s overall health. Proper nutrition supports physical development, energy levels, and cognitive function, contributing to a dog’s well-being and behavior.

2. **Exercise**: Regular physical activity helps maintain a dog’s physical health, prevents obesity, and reduces behavioral issues caused by pent-up energy. Exercise also promotes a dog’s mental health by providing stimulation and preventing boredom.

3. **Mental Stimulation**: Engaging a dog in activities that challenge their mind, such as puzzle toys, training exercises, and interactive games, helps prevent behavioral problems arising from boredom and frustration. Mental stimulation keeps a dog sharp and satisfied.

4. **Sleep**: Adequate rest is crucial for a dog’s health and behavior. Proper sleep allows a dog’s body to recover from daily activities and supports cognitive functions. Well-rested dogs are less likely to exhibit irritability and hyperactivity.

5. **Socialisation**: Exposing a dog to different environments, people, and other animals from a young age helps them develop confidence and reduces the likelihood of fear-based behaviors. Proper socialization fosters a well-adjusted, friendly, and adaptable dog.

6. **Attention**: Dogs thrive on human interaction and companionship. Giving a dog attention through play, training, and affection strengthens the bond between the dog and owner, leading to better behavior and a happier, more secure pet.

Combining these elements ensures a dog is healthy, happy, and well-behaved, contributing to a fulfilling and harmonious life for both the dog and the owner.

Redirecting Obsessive/Addictive Behaviors We’ve Created as Dog Owners

⚽️ Instead of constantly throwing the ball, try redirecting to more tug games or activities that build eye contact and a stronger connection between you and your dog. You can reintroduce the ball later, but with new rules.

🥸 Encourage games like touch or sniff work.

🦮 For dogs accustomed to running long distances, incorporate more mental stimulation into their daily routine.

🧠 Remember, a high level of mental stimulation will tire out your dog more effectively: 20 minutes of mental stimulation is equivalent to 1 hour of running.

🐾 If digging is an issue, try using cardboard and hiding treats inside, allowing your dog to destroy it.

A space has opened up for my puppy class!

Why choose my puppy class?

- We take the non-traditional route – our classes are held outdoors! (Be prepared; Manchester weather might mean you’ll get wet.)

- Your dog will learn all the necessary commands and obedience skills that both you and your furry friend need.

- It’s a great opportunity for socialization with other dogs and humans.

- We cover leash walking techniques.

- There’s focus on recall training to ensure your dog comes when called.

- We work on instilling good manners.

- We’ll go over essential house rules.

- You’ll discover fun games that enhance engagement with your dog.

Only one space remaining for the March - April session!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me!

“Is your dog pulling on the leash so hard to chase after birds, squirrels, and various scents that it feels like your arm might come off? Does your dog ignore you when you call him to come back, or struggle to stay still when you need him to?

I can help you achieve a great leash-walking experience where your dog pays attention to you, a solid recall so he’ll return to you 100% of the time when called, and a perfect ‘stay’ command so you can relax with your dog without worrying about him running off.

Is this the kind of support you’ve been looking for or wanting?”

Today in the news, there was another dog attack reported in Oldham. It's difficult to determine who is to blame because the situation is not as simple as black and white. The issue lies with dog owners who fail to train their pets or comprehend their behaviors.

Furthermore, many adults lack the knowledge of how to appropriately interact with dogs, and unfortunately, they pass this lack of understanding down to their children. This is concerning because many kids tend to approach dogs without fully grasping the potential risks involved.

It worries me that children are not adequately educated about dogs, and therefore, there is a pressing need to significantly enhance their understanding and awareness.

As a dog trainer, do I let my dog on the couch?... ABSOLUTELY 👌! I love a cuddle ❤️!!

Happy knows he's not allowed on without permission. If he's not allowed on, he has his own place and crate!

Build your own rules for your dogs and create boundaries where necessary, but don't miss out on the special moments 👌🥰!
